She got to leave school early so she wouldn't miss out on her brother's birth!

We were running an errand the other day and my 8 yo DD mentioned that if we have more babies she wants the gender to be a surprise again and she wants the baby to be born at home. I got all excited until she said that it was great that she got to leave school early to be at the birth. But she did say that she really did like not knowing the baby's sex and that we were all here at home together when DS was born.

My 7yo DS is thrilled about the planned homebirth of his sister because he wants to 'be there and watch everything.' Since we homeschool, I figure this is just part of the curriclum...human anatomy, human reproduction, vocabulary building (although he may add words to his vocabulary we might wish him not to
).

On the pragmatic side, since the baby is due just before Christmas, DS observed that he thought having a new baby will help him not be so bored all winter!

Yea, mine can't get a day off school, since we home school, so I turn it into a class of "The birds and Bees".

I figure they need to know where babies really come from. And they all love the "wet and gooey" new babies!

lucky girl! lucky mom to have a dd like her!

my boys are 6 and just shy of 5, and they both got to see the birth of their other 2 siblings (the lastest almost 2 weeks ago). summer baby, and spring break baby, so no school was ever missed.

as for the homebirth's, they love it! they think homebirth's are normal and wonderful!
it really broke my heart when my oldest asked, "mom, why was i born in the hospital?"

Yea, my stinkin baby brother came on a Sunday and I didn't get to miss any school to be at his birth...but being at his birth was an amazing, life directing event in my heart.

It's hard to believe it's been 27years this September since I watched my mother push my 14lb3oz brother into the world.
