My affirmations and midwife exercise

Y'all probably know I'm a CrAzY Christian, so if these won't work for you, I can agree to disagree!! The first is my affirmations coupled with scripture. I have these posted in front of toilets and over the kitchen sink, etc. The second is an exercise my midwife had me do~and invitation to the attrubutes I'd like to have attend the birth. Both could be done without the Christian undertones, and these have REALLY helped me!

BIRTHING AFFIRMATIONS

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, for your Heavenly Father knoweth what you have need of. The baby and I are rested and ready for the work we will do. ~Matthew 6:33

Be not afraid, but pray with thanksgiving and let your requests be made known unto God for more of His peace than you can comprehend! The more I give up my fear, the more relaxed I am and the less pain I have. ~Philippians 4:6-7

God's strength is made perfect in weakness~when I am weak, I am strong. I embrace the concept of healthy pain. ~2 Corinthians 12:9

…the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, JOY, PEACE… My contractions are actually pleasant as long as I do not resist. ~Galatians 5:22

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Any discomfort I feel, I can ease by relating them to their purpose. ~Philippians 4:13

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of a SOUND MIND. I am welcoming my contractions! ~2 Timothy 1:7

All things work together for GOOD to them that love God~with each contraction the baby descends a little more! ~Romans 8:28

Love is kind, believes all things, hopes all things, and never fails. I can transmute everything into love and pleasure. ~1 Corinthians 13:4-8

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I can feel good all through delivery. My strength is abundant! ~Philippians 4:13

…whatsoever things are lovely…whatsoever things are of good report…think on these things. I and my baby are healthy. Soon the baby will be here! ~Philippians 4:8

You're Invited!

The honor of your presence, HOLY SPIRIT, is requested at the birth of baby Lowery and always, forevermore. May your fruit of LOVE, REJOICING, and PEACE reign in abundance!

LOVE that is kind, does not behave unseemly, is not easily provoked, believes and hopes all things, and is never failing, and casts out fear.

REJOICING over this baby with laughter and happiness; the heritage, reward, and generous legacy of the LORD.

PEACE of the kingdom of God, given by Christ, that there be no trouble or fear, but faith and trust.

*Profanity, fear, guilt, negativity, and hatred are politely asked not to attend. As I will be swift and productive in labor, services will not be required of extended periods of time.

I'm not Christian but your affirmations are lovely.
I have printed out birthing quotes and affirmations that I use for meditations and will have on the wall for the birth.

Thanks for sharing

Please share yours with us too, FreeSpiritMama! Mine are all catered to my fear of the pain and hard work of labor~so I didn't use much else.

I really liked the invite and got to see some of the invites of others~inviting strength or joy or trust, etc. Thanks y'all! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

I have to credit another MDC mama who posted a list of quotes on the homebirth forum for most of these. These are the ones I am using, I have each one printed out with an empowering birth picture

The Power & Intensity Of My Contractions Cannot
Be Stronger Than Me Because They Are Me

Pregnancy is a process that invites you to surrender to the unseen force behind all life
Judy Ford

Faith & Acceptance
Surrender to the Birth Energy

There is power that comes to women when they give birth.
They don't ask for it, it simply invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying the child with it
Sheryl Feldman

Through pain find strength
Through birth find healing
It is never easy to keep reaching for dreams
Strength and courage can sometimes be lonely friends
But those who reach, walk in stardust
Flavia

Light flared through every limb, a force far too great to be contained in any human frame; but for that moment she was the Great Mother, giving birth to the World
Marion Zimmer Bradley

This one I use a lot before meditating and sleeping
The Birthing Dance

Come to me my child
Secret longing of my inner heart
Breath of spirit
Wondering the Cosmos
Choosing your next lifepath
Seeking sanctuary in my womb
Visions of you stir my dreams
Your gentle essence drifting inward
Merging into matter
Coming into consciousness
Birthing into being
Your tender wisdom speaks
The ancient knowledge of a mothers power
Our bodies grow together
Two as one
Turning round in birthing dance
You lead me
Opening the circle corridor
Descending through unhindered ecstasy
Into my arms
Judie C Rall

That is amazing!! I am almost in tears reading this one. Thank you so much for sharing them!!
Some I can share from my parent blessing:

I am feeling very open
like a flower in the morn
Let my petals open
Let my child be born
--this one is a song, whose tune I didn't learn

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service on my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid --Audre Lorde

Let go, Let God

Let go, let Divine

our children are not ours, they are life longing for itself--I saw this on someone's signature line on MDC.

That one really speaks to me too~I'm going to post it somewhere! It goes with what my midwife shared last visit~you don't wanna just suck it up, you want to embrace the contractions.

I wrote my quotes up individually on construction paper as pretty as I could and added a flower sticker or something pretty. (((((HUGS))))) sandi
I've been following this thread. I love all the affirmations, very positive and touching. Thanks for sharing!

Here's how I made it fit me:

God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. The power and intensity of my contractions cannot be stronger than me, because they are me. ~1 Corinthians 10:13

FreeSpiritMama, I think that's my favorite one now and am SO GLAD you shared! THANK YOU! (((((HUGS))))) sandi
thanks so much for these. going to write them all down on cards now.

Thank you for posting this.... I've known this quote for many years but hadn't thought of it in the context of childbirth! Beautiful and resonating!

Marian
Thank you for all these meaningful affirmations. I just finished writing down the ones that really stuck out as special to me, as I plan to focus on a few of them during labor. I really needed these!
