my dd zoe is a very very alpha child. if any other kid shows some weakness, she always beats up on them. i mean, not BEATING them, but she'll push, or take their toys away. i feel like a referee most of the time she's with other kids. she gets along great with older kids (she just turned 2), but she can be just horrid to ones that are a little younger than her. it's embarrassing to me, and i always tell her to stop that it's mean to hug and say you're sorry and she does, but it's just constant. should i pull her away from the situation all the time?

It's my understanding that many first children are like that. I know mine is <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"> . In fact, i have had other mothers ask if she has a big brother, because she is so aggressive and physical, though also very nice and sweet too <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> .
