Morgan Claire is officially here, she was born Monday May 10th at 9:36 pm. She weighed a tiny 5.1 lbs and is 18 inches long- a little peanut!

My water broke on Mother's Day around 11pm just as we were going to bed. I was SO relieved, because I was on bedrest for mild pre-eclampsia and had just reached the 37 week mark- it was wonderful that my water broke onm it's own! Because I was GBS positive, we headed straight for the birthing center to start antibiotics, and stayed the night because I was having some contractions. We were keeping a very close eye on my blood pressure because I was starting to develop symptoms of pre-eclampsia- as long as I stayed laying down, it was stable. I was a bit worried about how that would come into play later, but hoping for a waterbirth nonetheless!

By 6am my contractions completely stopped. We tried nipple stimulation, a few tinctures, etc...to get them going again, but unfortunately nothing was working. We tried all day and our midwife was SO patient with it- but around 3pm we hit the 16 hour mark and headed to the hospital for some pitocin. I was mildly upset, but my blood pressure was just so high that we all felt that with the ruptured bag of waters and the BP, that this needed to get done in the hospital. Like perhaps the contrax had stopped for that reason.

At 6pm they started pitocin, and I was really nervous because I only had 5 hours at that point to get the baby born. My midwife felt that because I've had 2 smooth labors in the past that it would happen really fast. I also got very lucky and got the best OB in town! I really feel that it was meant to be exactly what it was, because everything worked out to the tee. After 3 hours of incredibly intense pain and hard labor with no pain meds (gotta love the pit labors!!), my daughter came flying out in less than a breath- not even one single push!

I think I scared the doctor because I was laboring sitting up at the edge of the bed, and he kept telling me I need to come down NOW or I was going to hurt the baby when she came out- but sure enough I moved right at the last second and she came flying out into his hands- literally.

As much as a natural birth advocate that I am, I will sheepishly admit that I enjoyed the two day hospital stay and being pampered and bonding with my daughter before coming home to the chaos It was wonderful, but now I'm glad to be settled in with my little family of five. She's nursing beautifully, although she's a little ticked off that my milk isn't in yet, but hopefully it will be here tomorrow so she can chill out. I'm sure she's just needing to grow and catch up a bit!

To all the mommas still incubating- HANG IN THERE! When you see your baby's face, you'll forget all of this.

Wow mama! What a triumphant story! Way to get your vaginal birth and even pain-drug free to boot! I'm so impressed that you managed to handle a pit birth naturally...that's saying something. I had one of those and it stunk...and I got an epidural.

Hope your babymoon is fantastic! Kiss that teeny girl for all of us and may the milk come in waves!

I'd say after having a natural/pitocin birth those extra two days of R&R in the hospital were well deserved!!
