So, I got to hold a seven-hour old newborn this morning

This is her second birth and it went super fast. She arrived at the hospital at 2am and he was born at 2:46. She had been sent home earlier- she thought her water broke but it hadn't, and she was determined not to go back until she was sure the baby was on his way! Apparently her lightning fast delivery freaked the docs out.

He weighed 9 lbs and is absolutely beautiful

My friend was bound and determined to have him on St.Patrick's day. She is super Irish and she and her partner had agreed on his first and middle names a long time ago. During the pregnancy she had second thoughts about the names and especially wanted to change the middle name they had chosen. They agreed that if he was born on St. Patrick's day she could give him the middle name "Patrick." I knew she would do it!

I'm getting so excited to meet my baby and to see everyone else's!

Congratulations to your friend. May all of our hospital-going mama's have such an intervention-free hospital experience. (Not to mention the 45 minutes...Wow!)

That's great! Doesn't it make you even more anxious to hold your own baby soon!

Yay!! Very cool!! I want to hold a brand new babe! The last time that I did was when I was in the 2 week wait for this babe, and my nephew was born -- I think that he was about 10 hours old at that point.

ETA: Yay on the St. Patrick's Day connection, too! Ds#2's mn is Patrick, too.

Congratulations. It's wonderful to hold a little one. My friend also had a baby recently, when I was holding him my LO kicked hard enough to rock the baby. Wonder if that's competittion there already lol.
