My bf is a pretty (okay, VERY) mainstream sort of guy, so up to this point, I've kinda kept my "crunchy" ideas (ie, breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering, etc...) to myself. I'm not ashamed, per se, but I guess I just want to avoid the "what kind of crack are you smoking?" look.

The other night, though, he asked me if I was going to breastfeed. I kinda hemmed and hawed a little and said, "Well, it's still a little early, yet; I guess I hadn't thought much about it" (yeah right!). "I might." And he very strongly jumped in and said, "Well I think you should. We all were. It's just better for the kid if they are."

Well, I guess he settled that for me

I guess this way might be better....now he can claim it was his idea and feel all smart and manly

My DH is pretty mainstream when it comes to parenting when we first had DS and to make him come to my side i did the toliet trick. You take all the reading material out of the bathrooms and then put books you want him to read in there, and also any articles you want him to read leave open to the page or dog-ear them. My DH has decided to not circumsize, babywear, co-sleep and not vax this way. Breastfeeding and cloth diapers he already thought were ok because his mom did it. Also use the "well your mom did and you turned out fine" if you can, especially if he is a mommy's boy like my DH.
