My mother just called and told me. I'm a bit but otherwise OK. It's weird because I posted about her on another thread - about how she went missing for a few days but came home, so she was fresh in my mind. Smudge did not live with me, she lived with my parents because the last two apartments I've lived are no-pets. She was 18, I had her from the time I was 11. It's hard to believe. I'm just very sad and sorry I couldn't be with her when she died.

Thank you all so much. The vet says she didn't suffer, and yes, she did have a long, good life

It's hard when a pet dies, but especially hard when you have had them that long.

The cat that grew up with my brother and I died a few months ago, she was 18 also. My mom kept her when I moved out since technically she was the family pet not just mine or my bro's.
