There are two bills before congress that I've just found out about today and wanted to let other parents know about. They vary slightly and I don't know how, but the gist of them is to make the draft a fair draft.

That means no more deferrments for college, and they both include drafting females. The draft will be from 18 to 26.

I don't wish to violate the boards rules and don't want this to get moved to activism, where I'm afraid many parents of teens won't see it. So I'm picking my words carefully in hopes that it helps.

I talked to a woman who is becoming a draft counselor, explaing to kids what the laws are, what their choices are and how to have the necessary work done to prove you are a consciensious objector (can someone spell that for me please?) if that's your decision. There's more to it than that, of course.

I'd like to get anyone who is interested in what I know so far to PM me and I'll do one massive answer in a few days (unless there are only a few of you!
)

Please research your childs options carefully. THink about what the choices are. Things that worked years ago, won't necessarily work this time.

I have erased more from this post than I'm posting!
