I'm not sure if this is absolutely hilarious, or slightly concerning.
The past few weeks I've been feeling crummy. I've been sick, and have had no energy. My dh has been sick as well and.. well.. he's pretty useless when he's sick. So its left very little time for me to shower.
I'll admit it. It was over a week. I made sure my uh... parts were washed regularly, teeth brushed, hair combed, etc. But I simply didn't have the energy to shower my whole body.
I finally got a moment today where I was feeling better, both kids sleeping. (a rare nap for my oldest) So I hop in the shower. Ahhhhh I feel much better. Much more human. I'm happy.
My daughter wakes up and says, "You're clean. You took a tubby. You're all wet."
I said, "Yep! I'm all clean!"
She then climbs in my lap to nurse for awhile. She latches on and a few minuetes abruptly pulls away with a scowl.
"I don't like it! Why did you do that? Why did you wash the nummies?!"
:
"Uh.. cause I needed a shower? They're clean now! See?"
"No no no no no!! I don't want them clean! They smell now! See?"
I try to bend down and smell them. They smell like.. clean. Like shampoo really since I don't usually soap up my body I guess its from my hair.
"Okay, they smell like soap honey. I'm just clean."
"Please don't do that again! NO SHOWERS! NO CLEANING! You made the nummie smell bad Mama. I like the nummie the way it was!"
So my daughter is against me showering. I guess she got used to the "natural" smell of my skin since I took a slight hiatus from my general hygiene.
I read once that from infancy on, they get our scent-signature ingrained and become enamored of it... that, for moms having a hard time getting baby to nurse, they should not shower so much, so baby gets used and starts to love and bond with mama and her smell, etc...
Maybe this was an extension of that. Very instinctive... VERY cool.
I have tried that a few times, but I can't use baking soda for some reason. I get an allergic reaction along my scalp. I do from most shampoos as well. There are only a few I can use. In fact, when I was switching to more natural shampoos I found that I can't use Dr Bronners almond one because I'm allergic to the almond!
: I have a lot of reactions on my skin from things that don't bother me internally, if that makes sense.

I've heard of that too! I just didn't realize that not showering for a week would get her used to my natural smell so much that she would object to my cleanliness!
Incidentally, I don't use deodorant often but when I do she makes a fuss about that too.
Oh and Nan'sMom, yes I am feeling better about CLW. Thank you for remembering!
The key, stay away from mainstream boards where they haven't got a clue.
I don't wear deodorant much but my 4 yr. old likes when I do. He'll sniff me-- pretty intensely-- and say, "You smell yummy like fruit!" He also likes to smell my hair when I wash it.
Both of my kids sniff my breasts when they nurse. Dd has a bad latch and can't nurse as often as she wants too, so she'll just lay there and smell them, while I'm holding her!
I've been outside for three days digging up our current walkway to the front door....and hauling huge rocks. And the redoing the whole entry to our front door. And for three days I've been falling into bed exhausted. I've felt so bad for the poor baby when he nurses.....thinking that he's like "what's up with this no shower shit?!" Maybe he dosen't mind lol.
My DD doesn't seem to have a preference as long as she gets her milkies. Clean, sweaty, stinky, whatever. And she's almost 4 now, so she'd definitely tell me if she didn't like something.
That is too cute. DD has told me to wash my boobs when they got funky before (summer- with my cleavage and the girls hanging- they sweat quite a bit
. A lot of times though she'll get really close and just take a huge whiff of eau de mama' and smile. She thinks they smell GOOOOOODDD! Whenever I get burnt out she can usually get me back on track by talking about how much she loves nursing.. and sniffing me.
