I'm posting this in SN Parenting because I think it's a special need.

My 14 month old was ALWAYS a good eater. She's primarily dependent on nursing for food, even now.

In the past week, she has just not been hungry. I've gotten her to eat 5 times this week. I'm worried she's starving. She does have the word "eat" and the sign for "milk", and when I ask if she's hungry or wants milk, she shakes her head or signs "no". She doesn't throw up, and she has gained in the past week.

I'm seeing the doctor with her tomorrow. Does anyone here have a "not hugnry" young toddler?

All of my kids have gone through phases where they don't eat, My middle son especially.. I swear sometimes he lives off of 1 bite of food all day!

Most likely I would say it is just a typical toddler phase and it will pass.
As long as she is eating something here and there and getting enough fluids she should be OK.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask! My son stopped eating about the same time the hand flapping started and the severe night waking and the loss of language and eye contact. For us, it was definitely linked to autism. For a typical toddler to go through a hunger or nursing strike, its probably pretty normal.

You probably let her self feed, right? (Believe it or not when you have a delayed kid, you start to forget what other kids do at the same age.) I experimented with letting Juju try to self feed with a spoon yesterday (I have to support his arm cause he has CP) and drink out of a real cup, and he was really into it. He's 16 months and has be primarily bottlefed to this point. If DD is fully capable of feeding herself, I'd just put food out for her at regular times. Maybe she's just ready for a change in habits.

You're not pregnant are you? DS1 wouldn't nurse once I became pregnant...
