So it was my turn to take MY husband to the ER today... our weekend project was painting the nursery and moving the office downstairs. My husband crouched down to fiddle with some computer wires and his knee locked and he couldn't unbend it. I finally took him to the ER and after a looooooooong wait, they X-rayed him, tried and failed to unbend the leg, and then gave him enough sedatives to fell a horse. They unlocked the knee and then he started having "apneic episodes" from the sedatives, which freaked me the )*$# out. Nothing like having a doc and a nurse both yelling at your husband to breathe. Later he said, "I didn't understand why they wouldn't just let me go to sleep." Um, maybe because your heartrate was actually dropping very quickly?

Now he's in an immobilizer until he can get an MRI. We are quite the pair, him with his crutches and me with my round ligament pain and gigantic belly.

Thank god my sister was here to help me with the nursery painting, so she watched Dylan for the 5+ hours it took us at the ER. AND my sainted mother offered to take Dylan for a few days, so Mimi took Dylan with her when she left so I only have one person to take care of. Hopefully Jonny won't have to miss too many workdays, since that will decrease his potential paternity leave. And hopefully he won't have to be on crutches for too long.

And I should really go to bed now, because I am BEAT. It seems to be November DDC week at the ER, huh?

Wow, that is weird about the knee and scary about the apnea.

My husband has some sleep apnea problems and I can't tell you how awful it is laying awake listening to him breathing (or not breathing) and counting the seconds until he finally gulps air. We're working on it and it's getting better, but scary.

And what is it with the ER and our DDC this week?! Hubby's gone for a couple of hours on a hard bike ride, wonder if I should worry!

Thanks for the love, mamas! I am really feeling very blessed with my family right now. I can only hope that I give as much as I receive from them. Sometimes I feel like I ALWAYS need help and they ALWAYS come through for me... I wish I had the opp. to bail them out more often!

About two years ago my husband injured his knee running and went through PT, etc. About two months ago while we were on vacation, he screwed something up in the knee while he was body surfing in the ocean. So, we think that this is related in some way to those two injuries. Hopefully nothing serious... he is CERTAIN that he'll need surgery, but I'm more familiar with chronic injuries and suspect that it will amount to a lot more PT.

But one day at a time... we'll find out more when we get the MRI.

Thanks again for the hugs and warm wishes, ladies!

Gina, I hope your husband returns unscathed! Surely the ER Curse of the Nov DDC MUST have runs it's course by now.

Yikes! I am SOOOOO sorry! This is not a good week for DH's!!! I'm so sorry that you both had to go through this and I really hope everything will be fine. Take it from me--keep yourself calm and get lots of rest--our babies still need more baking time! Hang in there and please keep us posted!
