like pee They all wet the bed and although they wear pull ups or goodnights, the middle 2 end up wetting through. I have ordered some nap e-z and am hoping that will not leak. Anyway, my upstairs where the rooms are smell awful. They have a plastic mattress protector on their bed, so it isn't the mattress. The sheets and blankets get washed when needed. I don't know how to get the smell out??? Any ideas??

Have you tried replacing the plastic mattress cover? One of our sons still wets the bed and his protectors need to be replaced every now and then. The pull-up doesn't always work for him, either, but I find that it's usually when he hasn't made sure his penis is "pointing down". I'd also try lightly sprinkling baking soda on the protectors before you put the sheets down. Where do they dispose of the used pull-ups? Also, it sounds gross, but make sure they haven't "forgotten" to put an old pull-up in it's right place... i.e. under the bed or in the closet. Believe me, I'm speaking from experience.

Good luck!

When my oldest was potty training we bought what I called a "pee pad" from a medical supply company. It is one of those cloth pads that they use in the hospital on top of the sheets right after you give birth. I would put them on top of the sheet and wash it in the morning if needed. I didn't need to wash the sheets every day, just the pad. I think it was about $30 almost 10 years ago but it was well worth the price. I have used it after dd #2and #3 were born and while dd#2 was potty training as well. It is still in excellent condition

http://www.searshealthandwellness.co...6&COMBINE=2326

This is similar to the one I have.

Also I agree with the PP. If the room smells that badly it is likely that someone tossed a pull-up where it didn't belong.

I agree with the previous posters-

We had a plastic cover on ds's bed and it retained the urine smell something awful. I eventually tossed it and have gone without anything other than the mattress protector.

And if the room still smells you probably have a pull up stashed. Check behind dressers, desks, under the bed, between the headboard/footboards/side of the bed and the walls, in the closet, in the toybox. Everywhere!

Chances are, if you still can't find one, that one was lying on carpet or something somewhere and the smell is in the carpet. This is a 'get on your hands and knees and sniff' kind of task. :LOL

Sadly, I speak from experience. Thank goodness both mine are now almost completely potty learned! We've done away with pull ups, but I just discovered ds had an unreported accident last night that I just found!

Off to wash sheets!

Is it definitely a urine smell, or a more general stale funk? My son drools and sweats in his sleep and his bedding starts to smell funky pretty fast. It's a goaty, teen-boy's-college-dorm-room smell. :LOL I'm sure you've washed their blankets, but have you washed their pillows? That could be the source of the smell. If it's the pillows, pillow protectors (zip-on cotton covers) could add an extra layer of protection for the pillows in the future, or double-pillowcasing them.
