My 13 month old DS is intact. We have never messed with his foreskin at all and neither have any dr.'s or caregivers.

When he gets nekkid time, he *loves* to pull on the end of his foreskin. He pinches it between his thumb and fingers and yanks on it hard so that it stretches out an inch or so (which on a little toddler is FAR). I can't imagine it feels comfortable, but it doesn't seemto bother him. He's been doing this for a couple of months now - and now I think his foreskin is longer than it used to be due to all the tugging. It definitely extends a few cm further past the end of his glans (even when it's erect).

Will it always be that way? Or when he goes through puberty will he 'grow into' the foreskin so it won't be dangling at the end? Thanks for any advice .

The consensus definately seems to be that he's unlikely to hurt himself, and lots of mothers here can attest their sons did the exact same thing. Not only does it stretch the foreskin a bit, but it helps break up the synechia that connect the foreskin and glans, naturally---because he's the one who's doing it, following his own instincts through natural body exploration. It's also a very different kind of stretching (pulling the foreskin out, away from the body) than what well-meaning parents, nurses, and doctors do when they try to encourage/force retraction (pulling down on the foreskin, toward the body, forcing open the tip to expose the glans).

You're son will have precisely the amount and length of foreskin he was meant to have. And yes, when boys go through puberty he may very well 'grow into' what now appears to you as excess; no part of him is extra. Nature and his body know best.

Ds stretches his so far it looks impossible but he usually laughs while doing it so I know it dosnt hurt. And like pp said it is all part of the natural seperation process.

If he does hurt it he usually wont make the mistake more than once in my experiance.

I swear ds is like go go gadget!! He pulls that thing to his knees I think!! He thinks it is hilarous!! He also likes to get the whole thing in his hand and push it in and out like a turtle: I just let him be, he will stop if it hurts and it keeps him happy.

I saw a 2 1/2 year old at daycare doing this once and he looked at me, grinned and said "Look, it's stretchy!"
