My DS1 told me "this is my dream!"
. He's 4.5 yrs old and since he was 3, he's been begging for a little brother or sister. I got pregnant a little before his 4th birthday and now, DS2 is 6 months old. All while I was pregnant, he would tell me the things he would do with his brother. He saw siblings in the side-by-side jogging strollers and say "That's how I'm going to sit with my brother! And we will talk and hold hands...". I'm thinking "Holy krikes! Is the world going to come crashing down or what when this baby comes and he's going to cry and take DS1's attention away and all that? This fantasy of "the brother"... Uh oh... He really doesn't know what's coming and how his world will change with a brother, a baby in the house.".

Well, it never happened like that. DS1 is obsessively in-love with his baby brother. He wakes up in the morning and runs in to snuggle him. When we pick him up from school, DS2 gets the first kisses. He plays with him, reads to him, and loves him to bits! He held him in the hospital and brushed his little few-hours-old hairs, he fed him his first food last week... He plays with him, gives him toys and pushes him in the swing. He tells us all every day how much he loves his brother. Of course, baby DS2 thinks this is all wonderful and rewards DS1 with big baby smiles whenever he sees him, baby laughs and he is generally, the happiest, most social baby in the world who is clearly going to be idolizing his big brother!

So, today, I got this jogger and put them both in it for a spin. And you know what? While I pushed them around the neighborhood, DS1 talked to his brother, kissed him, helped him with his teether... and held his little baby hand
:. I'm all teary talking about it.

They were freakin' adorable.

That's cool. I was about the same age when my sister arrived and I just adored her. I think I would have enjoyed riding in a double jogger with her too.
How wonderful for you!

you are making me teary eyed too.

My oldest two were adorable in the double also. They are 23 months apart. Among other things the younger like to ride with her finger in her brother's ear and he let her.

Yes! Oh, I had ppl tell me that I needed to get a sit and stand or whatever those strollers are called because my 3.5 yr old wouldn't want to ride next to his baby brother or would be mean to him if they were side by side. I went with a side by side and he loves to ride with his little brother so much. He wants his seat at the same reclined level and keeps and eye on him--puts the sunshade over him, pets his cheek, tucks in his blanket, etc...It is the sweetest thing and makes me so happy to see him so happy.
