Today my grandma is in town and I took her and the girls to the children's museum. My friend was also going to meet us there. My friend is nursing her 20 month old still.
A little background, my grandma wanted to nurse but couldn't-- bad cyst requiring surgery shortly after her first ds's birth, she lost her milk. Was told not to lactacte again b/c they cut into some of her milk glands. We might have better info now, but that's what she was told then.
So anyway, friend sits down and starts nursing her dd in front of my grandma and the two were talking away. I totally expected my grandma to look disapprovingly or say something afterwards. I mean most older people that I have met (including my friends' own mother and family) are really stuffy about NIP.
Grandma never flinched. Just kept talking to my friend. Later I said that friend's baby has food allergies and nursing is very important to her for that reason. My grandma said, "Well good for her! I think that's great. When I was growing up it was normal for babies to be nursed until they were two."
