Hi all, seems silly but bras are expensive so I want to get this right

I am currently a 34-C and I have to hook on the last hook now, and the cup is full to the brim (ha, like coffee)... so I will go to a 36 but... here's where I need your experience. This is my first pregnancy, I am 5'7" 150 lbs and 12.5 weeks along. Do you think I need to get a 36-D?? Or would the 36-C probably be fine? When do breasts stop getting bigger in this pregnancy process??

I have the same question.... so its not silly. I'm considering getting a fitted sports bra.

One thing to keep in mind, will you be breastfeeding? I am, so I was thinking that any bra I buy will be nursing ones.

Buy a stretchy maternity bra. I got one from figleaves with my first as there's no way of knowing how bigyour boobs will get. Mine went from a dd to an h during pregnancy and an I when my milk came in!

I was a 36 D prior to giving birth, a 34D prior to pregnancy and I ballooned to 38 DDD by the time my milk came in. A month or so later I came back down to a 34DD.

There is no way to know how big you will be pp. I bought my nursing bras at Walmart because they were the only place that my size and they were cheap.

There's also the issue of an expanding ribcage as the baby moves up your torso. I really need bras, too. Last time I just ended up stretching out my regular ones. That's fine for me because I have a relatively small bosom and can buy cheap bras.

I was a 36B when I got pregnant with #1 and now after a year of nursing and being 16 weeks pregnant with #2 I'm a 36 D, still! Never went back down. You can get strap extenders if you think that will extend the wear of your current bra's. Oh and I'm 5'6 and around 145. You will probably need several sizes throughout your pregnancy. I actually love Target bra's and think they are fabulous. Of course you can spend a lot more and they might be awesome but get what works for you. You probably won't stay one size, especially if you're nursing and dealing with engorgement.

smerkin, don't get me excited about having bigger boobs PERMANENTLY. I know big boobs can be a pain, but I have just graduated to a C and it's pretty nice (for me and DH!)

After putting off getting a new bra for WEEKS I went to Target this weekend and bought one. I am not positive, but I think it is Gilligan & O'Malley, and it was only $11-12. It fits really well, not padded at all (I hate that), and the price was definitely right. I went from a 36B to a 38C. I figure that I might go up another size before it's time to buy nursing bras, so I may as well go cheap when upsizing.

I went from a DD to a G and slowly came back down towards DD before getting pregnant again. I have been able to wear my Bravado Body Silk bra through most of that, and I LOVE it. It's SUPER comfy, and flattering, but still a functional nursing bra, too.

Spendy, but something that I would wear nursing or not. I personally despise underwire bras and reluctantly started wearing them when I got past a C or so, but am THRILLED that I can wear something so flattering and underwireless even at a big ol' DDD or more.

If you are going to stay the same cup size, you should look into a extender for the band. I personally am going to cram myself into my bras as long as I have to. I tried buying nursing bras before baby came, and then none of them worked, so it was a waste.

I just look ed at his, but what's up with the sizing. That worked when you were a G? I am a G now, so who know what will happen in the future. Do you think this is workable, or no? FWIW, I am small through the ribcage.

I'm a 36, and I wear a L in the Body Silk. My current chest measurement is 42", and it's fitting beautifully. I bought this particular style after I was at my absolute milk engorged peak, but I do think it would have fit then. At that point I wore mostly the nursing tank in a 38 F/G and the Original Nursing Bra in an L+ (because I liked the cross front style better than the ++ style. My DD was born in June, so I was in summer clothes for the bulk of my infant nursing mega boobs. There are retailers who carry the Bravado stuff, so you may be able to find one you can try on.

I'm normally a 34C (really 33, but they don't make that). I go up to a 34D during pregnancy and a 34F when my milk comes in. Right now my regular, 100% cotton American Apparel bras still fit (they come in like 3 sizes, and are stretchy) but I'm going to need something for that DD/F size postpartum. I'm hoping to find something I can wear because I'm allergic to spandex. The AA bras in the next size won't fit because the band will be too big (they're pull-over, no hooks). After a month or so I can go back to my normal bras. I might just have to take benadryl to wear a bra.

Thanks so much blacksheep. A nursing tank for up to a G cup?!? I looked at it and it looks like it could really work. Not some flimsy shelf bra. I usually cut those out or tanks because the are so uncomfortable.

I'd go with the 36C for now, it will be slightly roomier in the cups than your 34C and longer in the band so you'll probably be able to put it on the middle or tightest hooks. Shortly after you milk comes in is when your breasts will stop getting bigger.

I have the hardest time with this. I have yet to find a comfortable bra. I buy to measurements and they're wrong, and my nipples protrude. I HATE that. I've bought padded the past few years just because of that, but don't need the extra padding at a d cup. Bras hurt my back, but I need the support.

Well, from the small chested front, I go from a full A or small B to a full C cup during pregnancy, but when my milk came in I made it up to a D! It was rather remarkable for someone who is used to being not so endowed. After about 6 months of BF, my boobs started shrinking agian until they were back to their normal size (even though BF continued). So I say size up, because they aren't getting smaller anytime soon!
