it annoys me that people on free cycle offer formula coupons or formula cans.: another way to promote that un-natural substance. i tried to offer my breastmilk to anyone local who is in need,. they posted it for a couple of hours, than the moderator took it down saying they cant post any open foods. i am sure they must have got complaints on my post.

The offer of coupons doesn't bother me at all. Some people need it. For some its already too late. The not posting bm offers though does bother me.

*shrug*

I have legitimate supply issues (I'm still pumping away at 9.5 mos, though) and have to supplement. I planned on exclusively breastfeeding. We never figured on having to buy formula.

I take everything free that anyone wants to give me. At my ped's office, they give me the vitamin supplements for BF'ing mamas AND the formula samples. I love it.

I'm kind of wondering about why you can't give away breastmilk, though. People around where I live post open food all the time...maybe if you put it in terms only people who are or have tried to breastfeed would understand? Like "EBM baby food -off brand" or something like that. LOL.

I've been trying to get formula for ages for my DH's Aunt who has a foster baby. I don't know how many things I've signed up for hoping to get that breastfeeding support bag or whatever, and I haven't received so much as one coupon.

I think it's awesome that you'd offer your breastmilk. However, I do understand why Freecycle wouldn't be the place to offer that (I'd be concerned over potential diseases or toxins in the milk of a stranger--no offense meant to you).

Do you have a local milk bank?
