I am in search of the perfect diaper. DD is 3 months old. At 2 months she was 24inches long and 12.5 pounds. She is a solid baby, but very narrow in the hips and thin in the legs. She has 'chub' but it is hard to get her diapers fitted well in the legs. Her waist is pretty wide which makes it harder to get the right fit- tight on the belly, loose in the hips/legs....which can result in leaks. She is now over 13 pounds and who knows how tall...definitely over the 24 inches she was last measured at.

We use GMD yellow edged prefolds with 7 prowrap covers. We also have 1 thirsties duo size 1 and a thirsties small cover. We angel fold with a snappi and I am finding a renewed love in prefolds as they wash so darn well. When sunned they look like new and a fluff in the drier helps them soften up. I hadn't planned to continue with the prefolds after she outgrows these smalls, but I am beginning to think I will get a dozen red or brown edged or even try another brand when she is done with these. We have homemade (not by me) fleece liners to wick moisture and some cotton liners we add for extra absorbency when going out or before a nap.
We have about a 60% success rate of no poo on the cover This is usually user error and mostly when daddy folds, but the covers have NEVER leaked so it is no big deal.

We've have 10 pockets in circulation (12 waiting to be grown into):
Smartipants: no hip snap so not the right fit for us. Tight on her belly and some gapping in the legs. The only diaper we've had leaks with. The interior material doesn't stain or pill, but holds stink. Yuck. Also while the diaper is on the smallest setting the one size insert needs to be folded down to prevent wicking or touching the baby. Love that it agitates out in the wash on its own. love the price. Would be much better on a baby with chubby thighs. I really want to love this one, but it is the last I reach for and never send to the babysitter since it takes some practice and adjusting to get it right.

Fuzzi Bunz OS: I can get a great fit with these since they run narrow. Now that she is on the small setting I like them even more than when she was on a newborn setting. I really like that I can adjust the legs smaller than the waist, gives a more custom fit for DD. Down side, while this fleese doesn't hold stink the way my others can it pills and loses its softness more than my other diapers. Also, it stains and even the sun isn't taking it out (not a big deal for me though).

Fuzzi Bunz perfect fit (small): My 'go to' nighttime diaper. Room to double stuff, can get a pretty good fit in the hips and legs. Gapping at the belly though since she needs the smallest hip snap, not a big deal for us but I can see this being terrible for a boy! Same down side as the OS FB. I was given a dozen mediums as a gift, and I think they will work great. I just wish they didn't lose their softness and pill like they do! My feedback to FB would be to put a snap on one of the wings so you could have a more snug waist setting without gapping or wing droop.

Bum Genius 3.0: Love the fit I can get with aplix! This is the babysitters favorite. DD is quite, er, explosive shall we say, and we haven't had any leaks. Also less red marks than FB. The pocket is so big you can double or triple stuff for overnight. Downside: STINK! The wicking material (same with smartipants) doesn't stain or pill, but it holds the dirty pee stink even after trying extra soap, extra rinses, sunning, etc. I want to love these, but the stink is keeping me from buying more. Also the aplix is not going to wear well with all the washing. I am going to try a new detergent (currently charlies) and maybe this can be a favorite for us.

We were gifted several brands of sposies at our shower (people knew we were CDing but were sure we'd want the sposies 'just in case' . We have used them for nights and outtings, but each time we use them we hate them more and more! I have started giving them away with baby shower gifts. Due to her body type we leak probably 80% of the time, no joke. Pampers snugglers are the best fit but even still we've had poop-splosions like I've never seen before. Thank goodness she is EBF or I would have just cut her clothes off and thrown them out, lol. The last 2 times we tried them at night (so I could wash all my diapers before my 3 day work week) we leaked into our bed. I am done with them. We haven't bought any and will not be anytime soon!

Hope this helps those who are in search of the perfect diaper like me.

What would you suggest I try next for my tall little baby? At this point I probably only want one sized as she is going to be out of smalls within the next couple of months and I need something now and can't wait to grow into mediums. I am open to AIOs for the babysitter. I am also interested in natural fibers to avoid the stink issues. Let the tips and suggestions roll in...
