Well I just have to laugh. I've descovered one very good reason not to sew when your having a bad day.

oops

The fabric next to the dipe is how the dipe should look but I oopsed and sewed it wrong side up! I had even gone ahead and sewn the velcro to the fabric before sewing the pieces together so it's now hidden inside the diaper!

I'm debating on scrapping the whole thing or just adding new velcro to the outside of the dipe and keep it for our stash. It was supposed to be for one of my testers but now I have to make an all new one for her.

Oh, I've done things like that, usually when I'm tired and really shouldn't be sewing or operating any kind of machinery any more. Luckily for me, I've only ever done it with the liner fabric (OC fleece), so the worst that's happened is it has been fluffy side out when I wanted smooth, or vice versa.

You know what I would always do? When sewing a diaper with a hidden layer that the soaker pad is sewn to & turning & topstitching, I'd end up with the diaper right side out, my beautiful knit or velour hidden on the inside and the soaker pad seams showing on the outside of a boring plain flannel. It took me forever to figure out how to layer the diaper body layers so the hidden layer would be hidden!

My problem isn't knowing how to layer it it's not being too frustrated when I try. I've completely given up for the day. I tried sewing another dipe and ended up putting velcro on the inside of the dipe so that it would be rubbing right on baby's belly! I don't know what has gotten into me today but I just can't seem to do anything right when it comes to the sewing machine!

Sorry to hear about your diaper. Though I have to say that was a good laugh. Sounds like my mom...she was sewing some trim on one of my sisters shirts and sewed her finger to the shirt...didnt even realize it until she was finished and couldnt remove her hand! Yikes! :LOL Luckily it didnt hurt, and she is finally getting the surgery for her carpal tunnel, I think when you do things like that you know you have a problem. hehehe. Hope you find a way to fix your diaper soon.
