Gotta tell you all about my silly son (nearly 5 mo now!).

Act I:
I was nursing DS down for a nap on the futon bed (he nurses to sleep while I read lying down--I know, the luxury of having only one child). And I noticed a damp spot on the sheets. I thought, "hmmm, that's weird. When did I leak? He's been nursing this whole time". Next day, same thing. So I look more closely, and realize he's got milk dripping out of his NOSE! He was doing a bit of flutter sucking, but was sufficiently konked out that he wasn't swallowing.

I can't believe it didn't bother him to have milk in his nose! For a second, I was having visions of my son in 1st grade: the kid who grosses out the other kids at lunchtime by squirting milk out his nose.

Act II:
We've reached that wonderful age where everything in the room is "interesting". Again, I was nursing DS down for a nap on the futon bed, and even though nothing interesting is going on, he pops off "mommy's nursers" to look every time I turn a page of my book or get a sip of water or you-name-it. Fortunately he's decent enough to loosen the suction before he does this and it's mostly been painless, just annoying (as in, "are you planning to take a nap or what?").

So at this point I'm just ignoring his on-off-on-off-on-off antics. And then he fiddles around and takes a huge mouthful of breast in his mouth and starts to suck--only he missed the nipple! : So I unlatch him and look at the bright pink hickie on my areola. Later on that same day, another hickie! I'm going to have to start paying more attention because DS thinks he's a bit smarter than he actually is!
