As of 4 pm she was 4 cm dilated and the baby is posterior so her back is really hurting her of course she doesn't want anyone there with her at the hospital except her DH so I can not give her any helpful advice nor did she take any childbirth classes so I am hoping the hospital will help her try to turn her babe..She was also still able to talk on the phone to my mom so I am thinking it is going to be awhile ...maybe not who knows

Anyway I have been sending her beautiful birth vibes all day and I hope everything goes okay

: I just found out she is planning on Circing him tonight....I am so upset and so emotional over it I just can't stop thinking about it. Plus the worst part of all will be when I go and see him in a couple hours and just knowing what will be done to him tonight is going to tear me to shreds!!

i'm following the thread you have over at the intact board. good luck with that; i really wish i had some really fantastic advice, but it's just making me really sad. is she bfing him? maybe you could try to talk about how disruptive it's going to be to the nursing. sure, it's a much tamer argument than considering the procedure itself, but if she's not considering things from your nephew's perspective, then perhaps she might see how circing would prevent her from being able to breastfeed him. or maybe you could just insist that she goes with him to see EVERYTHING. perhaps she just couldn't let them go through with it if she were watching it.

again, good luck. congrats on auntiehood, too, but i understand how you are feeling.

???????? Breastfeeding????? This had zero effect on my bfing relationship w/ my son.

I'm sorry your bummed zahirakids, but it probably won't be the last parenting choice that you'll disagree w/ your sister about.

it's a well-documented fact that babies who undergo circumcision may suffer great disruptions in the establishment of a breastfeeding relationship with their mothers in the postoperative period.

this information is cited in numerous studies, many of which are available online.
here are some other resources:
http://www.cirp.org/library/birth/
http://www.nocirc.org/statements/breastfeeding.php
http://www.circumstitions.com/Nursing.html
