My brother was born June 6. I brought my newborn dipes to the hospital and........step mom said she will try cloth!!!

I didn't leave them with her as we didn't have time to go over what to do.

My question: What should I give her for a fail proof start at cding? What websites should I get info from? I want to make this as easy as possible.....but would like to give her stuff out of my own stash. I only want to get extra stuff if necessary.

What should she have? I think she has enough sposies for a couple of weeks.....so I don't think I need nb size.

He is 7lbs 12 oz.

Thanks!!!

Hmmmm... I have about 10 small FB, some wool covers, some PUL covers, one fleece cover, some fitteds, a TON of preemie and infant prefolds..........inserts, wipes, wetbags..........I have a bunch of one sizes too....like Motherease, Luke's, and sherpa one size fitteds. I also have LL bit they wick.....can be used as cute fitteds though.

Wow! Angela!
That's so cool! Breastfed and CD'd what a blessed lil bro you have there!

I'd go with FBs and PUL covers with PFs. Tell her FBs for overnight & going out. PFs for home. Seems like the simplist & you wouldn't need to buy anything.

The only thing that makes me sad .....he got snipped!

Do you think she should start with preemie pfs or infant? Lay in covers or snappied?

No wool to start. I guarantee it'd overwhelm her or it'd end up in the washing machine, neither of which you want to happen. It took me 8 months of staunch cd'ing to come around to wool.

Let her borrow the FB & inserts, prefolds, PUL & snappis, a wetbag and wipes. Once she gets the hang of it, she can branch out into one-sizes, etc.

Write down washing instructions for her, and hang out for a few hours one day (if possible) to show her how to use it all.

OUCH! Oooh. I'm sorry. Yowee. I bet cloth would feel better while it's healing.

I'm a PF gal from the get go... I'd just do lay in with covers. Just make it simple. With both my kids I only had 4 covers in the NB size and I made them work and didn't own any snappis or pins. Sounds like you have more covers anyway.

now, if he's going to do sposies until size small, I'd really still do just lay in infants. I think it's easier to grasp. As long as the covers fit, then it's not like they'll explode if they're not snappi'd The covers might get hit, but heck, they probably would anyway.
