Lately I've been searching for some good covers (PUL or Nylon) to wear as an alternative to bulky fleece or wool soakers/wraps. DS outgrew his bummis this summer.
Well I've been temporarily using Gerber Vinyl Pull-Ups (size 24mos) and honestly... I can't find a reason to switch and get new covers. I don't like how they don't seem to breath much - but they are a great backups to my wool and fleece. (when I need trimness under rompers, jeans, dress clothes etc.) But we've had no rashes. I will admit that when the temps reach into the high 90's I stuck to wool.
I've been using them for 2 weeks for ALOT of changes because I've been seeing my family alot and dressing him in all the rompers my mother gave me for him to wear this summer.
I really like the Gerber covers... not LOVE, but I do like them. I'd love to invest in a similar style in Nylon, but I just can't justify it when these work, kwim? I don't think I would like them full time, but it's good to know that they work, and I could in good faith recommend them to someone just getting started as a temp (or perm) solution.
Pros:
*Trim
*Economical
*Available in most WM and TRU (although I had to shop around at a few different stores to find our size)
*Cute boyish prints or plain white (safari print this year, last year I think it was cars)
Cons:
*Not always a good fit - I hear lots of complaints about this on the boards - but Gerber recently revamped their sizing on things so I'm finding onsies and covers fit a little better.
*Not very breathable
*Not very durable - have to handwash, they won't last long in a regular wash routine
