I think both of these diapers are pretty good. The one-size thing is totally cool, even though the snaps do sort of bug me, visually speaking, on both of them. They are both easy to use and easy to wash.

Pros for Haute Pockets:
- More (better) color options (I must say, here, however that the "berry" is much pinker in real life than it appeared on my computer monitor)
- Microfleece inside is really nice and soft (I prefer it to the suede cloth)
- Do not seem to show wash wear as quickly as the BG! do (I have only had mine for a week, but they don't seem to have as much potential for showing wear as the BG!), the diaper looks good with just a t-shirt on top.
- I prefer the pocket opening (without the extra flap)

Pros for BG! 2.0:
- Velcro tabs stay fastened well to the front of the diaper and to the laundry tabs.
- PUL is very, silky soft
- Small tabs are very flexible
- When snapped into a smaller rise setting, the snaps stay snapped together well
- Made in USA

Cons for Haute Pockets
- Made in China
- PUL is not very soft (IMO)
- Larger velcro tabs are somewhat stiff
- Velcro does not stay fastened as well to the front of the diaper (would be easy for a toddler to undo)
- Laundry tabs do not seem to work at all (I've had diaper chains every time I wash them)
- When snapped to a smaller rise setting, the snaps tend to come undone when putting the diaper on.
- Probably will not fit as wide a size range as BG. The longest rise setting is shorter than BG's longest, and waist is narrower. . . my 3-month old, 17-lb baby is on the biggest setting for Haute Pockets, and the middle setting for BG!

Cons for BG! 2.0
- Show wash wear very quickly (pilly stretchy tabs, and fuzzles stuck in the velcro tabs) . . . due to this, not a very cute diaper to have showing.
- Not a lot of colors (and the colors aren't that great, IMO)
- Suedecloth inner (my baby's bum loves it, but it doesn't feel as good as microfleece to me)
- I don't like the pocket opening as much, the extra flap seems unnecessary to me.

Overall: I think the BG 2.0! is a better diaper, but maybe not as fun, and definitely not as cute. Once they come out with more colors and microfleece inners, there will be a lot less of a contest. IMO, they should do away with the prone-to-pilliness "stretchy" tabs. They don't make a difference to me, and do not look pretty after a couple of weeks of use.

I will still continue to use my Haute Pockets and may even buy more (though I wish I could just buy a sized version and not have all those extra snaps in the way since my baby is already on the biggest setting at 3 months). I will still continue to use my BG! as well, but probably won't buy more until they come out with more colors and microfleece inners.

If I was trying to convert someone to cloth with one of these options, I would suggest the BG! over the Haute Pocket.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Thanks for the extensive review! Those are the two I'm thinking about myself, so that was helpful.

Baby is due in June, so I ordered one BG this week just to show my husband (we used disposables with DD and he's not sold on CDing yet).

I'm not really too worried about having fancy or cute diapers, I just see them as functional (at least I do now, hopefully I won't get terribly sucked in!!!!) so some of the cons you list for the BG aren't really a huge issue to me.

Will be interested to see if others have similar or different opinions.

Great Review ! We have just recently gotten our hot pocket and bg 2.0 and used them 2x each!
So far I like both of them. I agree about the colors on the hp much better selection and the elephant on the back is cute too The BG held up over nite but the top of ds pants were a little damp in the am not sure if that was a BG issue or momma issue They both wash well and are soft inside. My ds is 23 lbs 15 oz but has thinned out so they both fit pretty well and we are not at all gonna grow out of them soon. I have a HP with snaps though not aplix(have one on the way) I wanted snaps since he is getting to the toddler stage and thought that may help keep dipes on ?? : Mine are in the wash so that is all I have for now oh yea i loved when i got the bg it was on the smallest setting and looked so cute .. i want another little bum to CD now

Oh, yeah, I should have added something about FUNCTION, lol!

They both function great for me and my not-heavy wetter. We haven't had a leak with either diaper. Only the BG! has been put to the test of the huge bfed poo (ds only poos once every 8-12 days, so when he goes it's A LOT of poo!), but I think the HP would be equally good at containment there.

i should add that the lining was dry on the bg after a nite of wear and the inserts were soaked ..so i am happy with the performance too ,good to now about holding in poop i think that his pants may have been folded into the top of the bg a little ..does that make sense and that is how they got wet .. not that it leaked

I agree about the colors and the microfleece being nicer on the HP, but I like the BG's because of the stretchy tabs! They make all the difference in the world to me when changing my super-wiggly DD's diaper! I've gotten rid of other diapers that I really liked just because I felt I needed that stretchy tab to get it on her properly and quickly!

I'm a total BG convert. For my squirmy toddler, the stretch is fantastic. DS is almost 17 months, and tall and skinny at 24 lbs., 31 inches. He is on the second snap with plenty of wiggle room. We use prefolds primarily (until I can afford to switch over completely) and it is REALLY hard to keep him still long enough to put the prefold on, snappi, and cover. I don't care about the little bit of pilliness when I can get the diaper on him without a wrestling match!

Also, I like the fold-over flap because on my skinny boy, I've had the problem of inserts riding up the back of pockets and then wicking out onto his clothes - not a problem with the fold-over flap.

thanks for the information and bringing this to my attention! I think I'll get a few bg! and a few HPs... And I might try a bumwear (they have one with an all cotton outer for day time) and let y'all know what I think...

I just think it is weird that no one seems to use bumwear around here at all...

I really like my BGs a lot. The stretchy tabs to show wear very quickly, but they are well constructed diapers and hold the poo and pee well. I can super stuff this for overnight and go 8-9 hours without changing!

I have BG aio 1.0s and HPs, and I've tried both on my kiddos, and with my 3yr old who is PTing right now the BG barely barely fits. the tabs are right above his hip bones.
the HPs fit with ALOT more room in the waist to grow even.

I don't know why people are saying the BGs are bigger, because i'm finding the opposite to be true!

I am really attracted to the many different designs and stuff for bumwear:

http://nickisdiapers.com/catalog.php?category=195

I think that these would be great in the summer with just a t-shirt...

but I'm surprised no one around here seems to use them...

I'm going to try one and I'll let y'all know how it goes!

Thanks for the review. I have BGs, and was considering a few HPs. I think, for now, I'll just stick with the BGs.

I've really been in love with the fit, trimness, & ease of use of the BG2, but every time we've tried these for overnight they've wicked horribly through those stretchy tabs (DD is a superheavy wetter, tho). I just recently got a few of those Bumwear with the cotton outers and I do like them pretty well. They're very cute, so, as a PP said, I think they'll be good this summer with just a shirt, but the fit seems a little loose around DD's chunky little legs. Having said that, we've had no leaks yet (only in use for about a week now), so it may not be a problem. Also, they're not very trim, IMO, but now I keep comparing everything to the trimness of the BG2... which is achieved through those stretchy tabs!

Oh, thanks! It is good to hear something about them before investing even 20 dollars (which seems like a lot for one diaper when you're used to prefolds!) And I kind of like the big-diaper-booty... prefolds aren't very trim, either! I really like the colors.

I can't wait to get some new diapers going on...
