...thank God I wasn't in labor!! The midwife wanted me to go to the hospital for a biophysical profile since she didn't like the results of the NST I had yesterday afternoon. I was so upset. I knew it was because I was crampy and shifting on the uncomfortable table and the girl who hooked me to it was a 12 year old medical asst. They left me in there forever and I finally unhooked myself because it was driving me nuts and I had to pee and I was soooo crampy.

So I leave the midwives' office in tears because I knew everything was fine and I hate going to the hospital and I didn't know what to do with the kids who were getting out of school in 30 minutes so I called dh who was almost RELUCTANT to leave work. I decide to stop at home to change and grab something to eat (hospital is 8 minutes away) when my VAN STOPPED MOVING. At least I was on my street... it just wouldn't move!!!

I jammed it into different gears, hoping that I would get it to move at least out of the middle of the street, towards the curb knowing I couldn't get out and PUSH the $%&*%%$^^ thing, when I hit on NEUTRAL and it edged over. Not a good sign. I knew the transmission was toast. And I was right...it is going to cost at least $1200 to fix!!!! AAAAAAAAH!

I am so upset. I've been crying all morning. I finally got to the hospital last night after calling my mom to pick up the kids and hubby coming home to drive me.. ALL FOR NOTHING because like I thought, everything was fine. Amniotic fluid levels perfect, good tone on baby, heart rate reactive, etc, etc, etc. A big waste of my time and energy but at least the baby is doing very well.

I just wish I was....why in the heck does my van die NOW!? Less than a month before Christmas....just before a new baby comes...OMG I'm going to lose it!!

Thanks for letting me moan here....ugh....

oh god...when i saw this i thought you were in labor...en route to hosp. well either way, it IS stressful to have a car konk out like that. i'm so sorry you had this happen to you. i also feel so frustrated and abandoned and bitter when hospital/medical people leave me too long. not just in pg or PP but regular dr. visits for whatever...so annoying!!!

i especially notice in PP care the 2nd day w/ both births, i might add, i was bombarded w/ visits from nurses day and night as well as financial people coming in all chipper and fake to make sure insurance was all lined up, social worker, and this person and that person. then after that the 3rd day i was left alone pretty much. sometimes i wanted that but sometimes their timing was off to give me pain meds or check in or when they did check in they woke us up to do vitals or tests on baby. sigh..... or how about when they leave the blood pressure cuff on us and its way too tight, pinching our arms and we say it hurts and they do NOTHING about it. lazy! grrrrr.

hugs!

I know, I couldn't believe they left me in that stupid little room with no windows hooked up to that NST machine (for the 2nd time this week I might add...) I couldn't stop staring at the numbers too...I see how medical people become so enamored with the bleeps and blings...I kept thinking "WOW. Look how the heart rate goes up when the baby kicks....I'm having a CONTRACTION? I don't even feel it..." :

Then the midwife (who is not the regular one I see) reads the stupid strip which is obviously jittery because I kept tugging at the straps and shifting on table and thinks something could be wrong. She used to be a homebirth lay midwife too. Everyone is so paranoid about malpractice...sheesh.

And the PP blood pressure checks? So annoying. Why do they wake up sleeping moms and babies after birth to poke and prod anyway? GO AWAY. I remember being SO irritated at that at the hospital and thinking, "Don't they understand I need SLEEP?" But they don't wait for you to wake up because they have to go bug and poke every other mama too....

LOL, its a 1998 Ford Windstar. I have another vehicle to borrow, but it doesn't seat as many as I'll need after baby comes Hubby is working on my vehicle problem now, I might have to do some creative driving for a couple of months, but I think it will be okay.

Welcome to my world! These are the things that happen to me usually. My van died this year when we were a couple of hours away from home on a mini vacation. So sorry you're dealing with that!!!
