My wonderfully sensitive DH and his hopes for our future grandsons

We were having a conversation about circ and our son being intact and he expressed to me that he hoped that 'we had protected our future grandsons from circ' by keeping our son intact. My husband then followed to say that 'I would rather be the one having to deal with my son being different and all the baggage from being circ'd when you find out what is lost....' He went on to say that he loved him too much to ever let him have to deal with those issues.

From our research it seems clear that soon circ is going to be a thing of the past, he knows that the future questions circ'd boys and men are going to have are "why did they let people do this to me?" We've heard it talked about in the media a lot it seems, Howard Stern is adamantly pro-intact...and he's heard it in other places as well. It seems like finally a large segment of our culture is questioning it.

I do hope by keeping our son's intact we have helped protect our grandsons....(we'll have to educate our daughters as well). I have seen it written a lot that circumcision creates circumcisers (people who are cut are most likely to continue the pattern).

I am still waiting for the medical community to step out and protect infants though. I am so personally mad about that. They've done it in Canada now...we need to rally change somehow, soon! The AAP needs to step out of their comfort zone and protect infants, not $$$ and not doctors.
When is this going to happen? That would completely flip the culture around if doctors would no longer perform them...why is it taking so long for this to happen? Is it that the doctors are all cut themselves and want to continue this, or is it all $$$?

That is my hope as well.
: to get the AAP to make its stand based on truth & not $$ and that my decendants will no longer allow this brutality to continue.

Unfortunately, it will take a full generation of men to live and die after the last circumcision before it is truly dead and gone. Just look, it took almost 75 years after the last female circumcision in the US to make that illegal!

You can forget the medical profession for a long time. Check out the names on the AAP's Taskforce on Circumcision and the President of The AAP and you will understand.

I wonder about this too. If by boys grow up & marry conservative, formula feeding, circers I will know I have failed.

Yep, I looked it up...now I get what you are saying.

I still hope that the AAP is going to take a clue from Canada.

Maybe we just need a few BIG lawsuits...that might do more for our cause, hitting it where the doctors hurt $$$.
