No one knows breastfeeding as well as you ladies, so I thought I'd post here.

After a friends urgings I joined Myspace a few weeks ago. Much to my surprise I found many like minded women on there. I joined several AP groups and made many friends. Suddenly our pictures started disapearing. Myspace said breastfeeding photos were lewd and indecent and they removed all of them, including pictures of art depicting breastfeeding. There were no tacky pictures up, just pictures of moms feeding their children.

A few days later our breastfeeding groups were gone. No warning, nothing. Another group was made, and again the group was deleted.

Meanwhile pictures of pornography, including child pornography and beastiality continue to be allowed.

Though I'm sure somehow Myspace reserves the right to not allow postings of certain pictures, this feels morally wrong to me. There are many breastfeeding women who are upset over this. Our queries to Myspace and even Tom (the owner) have come back with nothing.

The entire breastfeeding community feels targeted and persecuted. Its not just pictures that are being taken down, but entire message boards. Repeatedly.

I'm not sure if anyone can help, or even if we can do anything... but if you can, I'd really appreciate it. I'm at a loss.

I too have a myspace account, and I met a nice woman on there who had a beautiful picture of herself nursing her child. Mostly they won't get deleted unless someone reports them as lewd and indecent. I'm surprised that your group got deleted- my guess is someone on there finds it to be offensive-who knows why- and keeps reporting you.

Myspace's user agreement states:

MySpace.com reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject, refuse to post or remove any posting (including email) by you, or to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to all or any part of the Services at any time, for any or no reason, with or without prior notice, and without liability.

So you probably don't have much avenue for redress of the situation, unless you can contact the owner and convince him bf pics aren't lewd/indecent.

In the mean time, I'm going to tell my sister to boycott them. She has a web page there.

I was afraid of that. Oh well. I guess getting the word out is the best course of action we can take then. Meanwhile, you should be reporting the porn. Seriously, if random complaints is what got your groups deleted, then you can get rid of the other groups the same way. Make a statement with each complaint, maybe a standard boilerplate of 5 responses that you can cut and paste:
"It's disgusting that this sort of filth is allowed on your systems when something as healthy as breastfeeding is deleted."
"What sort of place are you running here where you'd let child pornography exist and yet you delete pictures of children being cared for by loving parents?"

That sort of thing. Do you know if people who aren't MySpace users can complain too?

I once considered joining MySpace but got a really yucky feeling about it. Now I'm glad I didn't join... I will be passing this info along though since I know several people who DO have accounts there.

I believe you can. I logged out and clicked on the "Contact Myspace" and it brings up a page to write to them.

http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...DAA78358729016

Thank you!
I've been reporting the porn and things as I see them, but there are so many. Also found a lactation group that was made a few years ago and is still around. Complete with pictures. Except that its not of mothers feeding babies, but adults who want to be lactated on. ...... and they delete us? To each their own I guess, but I hate feeling targeted.

So.. Photos of breastfeeding are banned yet my niece's mother can put up photos of herself at work - she's a stripper? Her boobs are bare and right out there, her hiney up in the air. She has numerous soft core photos of herself on her profile. Yet boobs being used as intended are unseemly?

Color me 78 shades of confused.

I don't like myspace because of all the sickos on it as well as the horrible amount of viruses and trojans on it. Now I have even more of a reason to think it is a trash site.

Thats correct Janis. So you can see why I'm a little upset. :

We still have not gotten any response other than the pat "indecent" TOS violation. We report really offensive images (zoomed in crotch shots, etc) and have checked on them and they still remain days later. Yet our pictures get deleted within minutes of posting them.

I can't even describe the images I've seen on the the past few days. Horrible! Yet the loving pictures of me nursing my daughter were deleted.

I've actually saved *E's* profile and pics so my brother can use them in his custody case. She has nasty photos of herself and then has a photo of herself and her girls. All on the same page! *shudder*

I've seen graphic suicide scenes from movies. I've seen gore, sex scenes, nudity and all kinds of crap. It stays. But post something decent and they will remove it. Just who are they trying to attract?

There have been a ton of news stories on myspace and how bad it is. Yet they stay in business.

Makes me wonder about the future...

No surprise, this is again part of corporate brainwashing - Rupert Murdoch owns MySpace...bought it for about $560 million...now it's part of FOX. So you know that they promote sex, pornography, and all the rest that degrades morality. It is the same mindset that is against the proper role of breasts....Like Feeding your child!!!

I'd suggest finding some of the progressive conscious folks on MySpace and blog with them about it....my friend joined MySpace not too long ago and found lots of conscious people discussing in depth relevent issues...so maybe the way to shake up MySpace is to contact their audience directly and encourage them to speak up. I saw mama groups who support natural vibes / breastfeeding etc.....

As the words of Bob Marley "There's no solution without a revolution"!

I just e-mailed the customer service people, and also put a bolded paragraph on my account page urging other people to question why underage porn is okay, but breastfeeding is "offensive." Let's cause a big commotion!

Why would you want to be at such a place anyway?

Seriously, I don't understand. Are there not other places online without the porn and abuse that would allow nursing moms to gather?

Could not some of the more computer savvy moms start their own sites?

What's wrong with here? or breastfeeding.com?

Inform this old mom, I truly don't get it.

I actually have a MySpace page, and I really like it (in it's defense), but I'm saddened to hear about the bf'ing pics being taken down/deleted and the porn pictures staying up. I'm going to complain to customer service, hopefully it will help!

I have an account there because I've moved twice in the past three years, went to college, etc., and all the people I live far away from now are on there. It's been an easy way to keep in touch with everyone, as well as finding like-minded people where I live now and reuniting with friends I lost contact with.

WTF??!?!?! That makes me so mad!!! I don't have a myspace but DH's band does and it drives me nuts to see all these half naked teenage girl pictures on there. I can't believe they would delete breastfeeding pics and not care about the other sick and perverted photos on there. How sad.

MySpace was started to give bands and musicians a place on the web and be able to network with other's and stay in contact with fans and friends. Now it seems like it's a borderline-pornographic dating site!!!

I have found a few friends that I lost touch with but I think myspace has really changed in the last year or so.

This pisses me off. I peered over my sisters shoulder one day while she was surfing Myspace and all I saw was a bunch of 12-16 year old girls posed like porn stars with everything but their nipples and vulva showing. How freaking ridiculous!

I think they reason they are doing it is because it is easier and quicker than taking down the 9 million pictures of women and men in suggestive clothing/postions.

Its completly wrong!!
Do a myspace search for the user "breastfeeding is not offensive", its a nice page set up.

ETA: Great I just found a whole group with pictures of breasts and things, with comments attatched to every picture............how is that ANY different than breastfeeding??!! PM me if you want the link.
