Trying to decide between two boy's names. We found out today that our 3rd little one is a boy! The middle name will definitely be James. I love the name Ryan, but I feel kinda funny using it since a good friend's little one that was born this past December is named Ryan.

I prefer Ryan, but I'm not sure if I could use the name that a good friend used. An acquaintance, sure, but a good friend, I don't know. But if it doesn't bother you, then that's great!

We are leaning more towards Xander, but with our daughter we had said Sarah Cheyenne or Ella Cheyenne. She ended up being Ella.

I love them both!! Though I think I would also have some reservations about using the name a close friend used... Plus, I really love Xander <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

I even asked DH's opinion and his words were, "that's a horrible toss up since they are both good names." But we went with Xander since it is not a very common name and then no worries with your friend...

I vote Ryan, I don't care for Xander. I'd just mention it to your friend and see what they say. Good friends of ours named their youngest son Riley (we have a daughter named Riley) and never asked, didn't bother me at all (I don't get the possessiveness people get over names!)

I also agree that Xander seems like a nickname for Alexander to me .. but I like the name, and I have an Alexander. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>

DH's name is Ryan James. So I am especially partial to that name. I think the name as worn well, in terms of trends, his entire life.
