Well, it seems like it's been a while since our last name poll popped up on these boards. I've been asked every day since finding out the sex of our baby what name we're going to give her. Sheesh, I'm not real sure. So, I figured I'd list all the names we were thinking of and whatever my fellow MDC folks chose, that's the one I'll tell people is the forerunner.

You should know:
1.My husband's last name sounds like Care-iss, but of course is spelled differently.
2. Margaret is my grandmother's name and my cousin is named after her. My cousin says she doesn't ever want children (but she's only 21 that may change). I was thinking of asking her permission to name the baby Margaret, but only if she was born on my g'mas birthday 7 days after my due date.
3. My husband and son's names both start with J. I have an adversion to another J name, but I do like Josephine.
4. Oh, shucks! I actually spelled one of my names wrong. Cicely should be with a C, not with an S if that changes anyone's mine. (I can't edit it)

Thank you for looking/voting/commenting in our poll.

I think it goes pretty well with the "last name"

I think Sicily is a beautiful name and very different.

If you really like the name Margaret and want to name her after your grandma then just do it. Your cousin will probably think it's cool that she and the baby share a name and it is doubtful that she would pass her name on to her child even if you didn't "take" the name first.

Good luck!

I voted for Kendall but I also really like Margaret and most especially if she decides to make her entrance on your grandmother's birthday!!!

Oooh, Cicely Margaret is really pretty. Oooh, I like that!

Mamapenelope, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer last month, too. this month she'll start radiation. She's my last living grandparent. It's hard to watch her go through it. Although since losing my grandfather, she's very much at peace about death. That's comforting, I think.

Using Margaret for a first name though really wouldn't be so family friendly for my family. Because, they've always talked about cousin Margaret having a Margaret someday. So, who knows! I'm going down to visit them this weekend, I think I'll corner Margaret and talk to her about the name thing, since it is technically her "claimed" name.

Thank you so much for the feedback and voting! I really appreciate it!

Why would cousin Margaret name her own daughter Margaret?

I voted Margaret - here is my breakdown:
No on Cicely because then you'd be a C a C a J and a J (girls are C's, boys are J's). No on Josephine because of the J thing (though it is my 2nd choice). For some reason I didn't like Blythe with the last name, and Kendall was to sing songy for me with the last name.

I thought I'd bump you back up and register my vote!

I voted Kendall. i really like the name, although I can see the "news anchorish-ness" of it.

I really like Cicely Margaret or Josephine Margaret! Probably I like Josie better than Cicely (for some reason, I just see "sis" being a nickname, and I have a childhood memory thing about that). I understand the "C" and "J" thing, too. We have the same issue at my house.

Blythe seems too difficult to pronounce!
