Has anyone yet thought of names for this baby to be yet?
It's funny, it just occured to me tonight that we haven't really thought or talked too much about names yet for this baby. With my girls it was all I could think of just about as soon as I saw that + sign.

I am pretty sure that this will be another girl. I have been right all 3 times so far
This is my short list

Faren (curious how you think this would be pronounced?) It is Fair-in
Charlotte for a middle name (not for our city, but for DH's Grandfather)
:LOL Just realized her initials would be FCB

For a boy:

Luke Charles (Mike loves the name Luke, but we have a cat by that name already)

What names have you thought of?

We can't decide on any boy names, but so far we like Aubree for a girl

Kevin and I have been discussing baby names from the get go, it seems, and we can't agree on anything! the two names we both like but are still unsure about:

Stella for a girl... anyone got any good one syllable middle names names besides Grace?

Finley for a boy, but I prefer Phineas.. Kevin definitely doesn't. :LOL

Jen, I like Faren, it's nice. DH and I are regretting naming our cat Violet, because it's a name that we both really like. Too bad we "wasted" it on our sweet kitty.

Names were something we agreed on within the first week of knowing we were pregnant! Since DH is from Norway we want to choose names that work well in both languages (we'll be raising the kid in Norwegian, since that's the language of our household and since we want him/her to be bilingual).

Who knows whether we'll actually go with them when push comes to shove, but for now the "working" names are:

Rebecca Irene (plus both our last names). I wanted Irene to honor my last living grandmother, and DH wants Rebecca because it is my middle name (my first name is my mother's middle name, so there is a tradition for that).

or

Eivind (plus both our last names). This is a variation of DH's late father's name, plus the intitial E honors my father, whose name also begins with E. I had gone through a Norwegian baby name book and it was the only boy's name I really liked. Without telling him about it I asked DH what boy's name(s) he liked and it was the first name out of his mouth!

I'm not sure how easy it is for English speakers to pronounce: AI-vind, with the stress on the first syllable. Any responses???? Either positive or negative--don't worry, I won't be offended! I know Norwegian names are weird--hey, we could have settled on Gorm or Viggo or Odd or Even (!) or Snorre or Kolbein or Ragnar or Asgeir or Njal or Trym or Eindride or...

Stella Anne/Ann
Stella Britt
Stella Dawn
Stella Faith/Faythe
Stella Fawn
Stella Gwyn/Gwen
Stella Hope
Stella Jane
Stella Kim
Stella Leigh/Lee
Stella May/Mae
Stella Neve
Stella Page/Paige
Stella Rose
Stella Rae/Rhea
Stella Sue
Stella Tess
Stella Wynn

Okay. I'm not saying I necessarily like all of them, but here are a few alternatives to Stella Grace...

It bugged me that I couldn't get the whole alphabet in! Here are two more:

Stella Cass
Stella Eve

our poor baby was named before conception!

Boy: Robert John, but we'll call him Jack, it follows naming traditions in both of our families.
Girl: Evangeline Sue "Eva Sue" for short. We'd just call her Eva, but that's the name of dh's ex girlfriend (the one he dated just before me!). Besides, Sue is a big name in dh's family.

Dh and I can't agree on anything - for a girl I like Sophie, but he thinks it's an old lady's name. He says Sophie's good friends would be Stan, Pearl, and Ruth.
We agreed on dd#1's name after a long search, so I don't want to push somthing he doesn't like. On the other had I REALLY like Sophie.

No boy names yet, they seem so much harder.

Eruditia, I really like Eivind - and I don't think it would be any harder for most American's to say it as long as you don't mind repeating it a couple of times for those who don't get it right away. I worked with a little boy whose family was Norwegian and the only name I couldn't get down was the mother's - but that may have been easier to work around since I called her Mrs. ___. Anyway, I say go with what you like - we mess up American names all the time anyway. You wouldn't believe what people can do with Heidi...

Well, I have been hesitant to tell anyone our names and I didn't want to tell my mom at all b/c I knew she would hate our boys choice. Anyway if it is a girl it will be Iris Loretta (Loretta is my mom's 1st name so, we thought it would be a nice honor) then my last name- Dh's last name. If it is boy it will be Asa Patrick (the middle name of all 1st born males in Dh's family) then my last name- Dh's last name.

It sounds like everyone has thought of great names. Shalena, I love Aubree it is so cute.

On another name related note I am so sick of people looking at me like I am nuts when I say we are hyphanating (sp?) the last name. We have two different last names! One of my friends actually told me it was cruel. That's kind of an exageration don't you think? One thing that seems to shut people up about it is when I get a pittying look and say " but if we didn't hyphinate then they wouldn't have their dad's last name at all" people are usually so stunned that they wouldn't just not have my name that they don't know what to say. Ok well there's my rant....

We have talked a little and come up with little. Still don't have any ideas!
we haven't even discussed it yet. i have no clue. we didn't decide on a name until 1 week before dd was born. our problem wasn't disagreeing on names, we just couldn't find the 'perfect' one, and when we did, we knew.
Yup, but i'm not telling! Too afraid the world would like the names and then they'd be on the top 10 list of baby names for 2004.

I love Saoirse (SEER-sha) for a girl, but everyone groans when I tell them!
Clinton Douglas for a boy, for sure. (Our best friend, Clinton, who lives in FL and my grandfather, Douglas, who raised me.)

Pia (something) for a girl. (We're not positive. We love Pia, but haven't come up with a good middle name and worry about it being picked on too much as a child.)
Eruditia, thanks for the suggestions! I like Stella Rose and Stella Mae... both are feminine and pretty, which I think is what we want to go along with the "vibe" of Stella.

Glad you liked some of the suggestions. I love the name Stella--a good friend has a really sweet and smart little girl by that name. Very independent and determined, yet very loving and fun.

We won't seriously discuss it until we find out what we're having (or when the baby is born) but we are thinking about Raelyn for a girl and Jackson for a boy.
DH and I have pretty much agreed on a boy's name: Taggart Foster. Tagg for short. Foster is his mother's maiden name and Taggart has both Celtic and literary meaning for us (fans of Ayn Rand will know...)

We are having a harder time with girl's names. Lemme know what you all think:

Aislinn Delaney
Vivian Delaney
Dagny Camille
Maggie ( not short for anything.. just Maggie) Camille

These aren't our ONLY options, just the ones we have come close to agreeing on so far..

We both think "boy" tho

Actually, Michray, I like all of those! Delaney must be really popular this year; my sister is PG with #3 and for a long time they were considering Delaney Nicole. I'd never heard Delaney before but I really like it now.

Thanks for the input!

Im almost sorry to hear that Delaney is getting more popular
Its a good Irish name. DH is a Scott and I'm Irish and so we were hoping to give this baby a unique name and I am pushing for Irish. Having a 1 syllable last name makes naming tougher sometimes.

I personally am leaning towards Vivian( my paternal great grandmother) or Dagny ( Another Ayn Rand influence) but we have time yet to haggle! DH is pushing for Paz Delaney... I just dunno about a girl growing up with the name Paz. It sounds ok for a child, but to me doesn't seem very grown up and I would hate to stick a child with something she would hate later in life.

For those of you concerned about the (over)popularity of the names you're considering, I highly recommend the Social Security Administration's searchable website. It's a lot of fun, and you can search the popularity of a particular name up to the year 2003 or look at lists of the 10, 50 or 100 most popular names for a given year. They even have records for the 1800s if you're the nostalgic type.
