So I'm wondering at what age do your children stop napping? Just curious. Both my girls are still napping and both still definitely NEED it. They sleep for about 1-2 hours. If we skip it for 4yo she has major meltdowns in the evening and is miserable to be around. And 1yo has never skipped. Thanks for the input!

I'm curious because most of 4.5yo's friends have stopped long ago. There are a few that still nap but not many. I've tried a few times to let her have a quiet time instead but she just gets so tired and grumpy. And personally I'm gonna keep it going as long as I can just to get the mommy break time.

One of my DD1's friends (age almost 6.5) still naps once in a while in the afternoon after school. One of my DD2's friends (age 3) naps everyday still.

My 2 older daughters (6 and 4) stopped their regular naps at around age 3, but still took infrequent naps up to age 5.

DS was around 3-3.5, DD was around 18 months. With her though, we made her give up naps. If she even slept for 15 minutes, she would be up until 1am and since I worked, I couldn't stay up that late. And I was breastfeeding so she wouldn't go to sleep with anyone but me.

DD gave up naps altogether right around the time she turned 2. DS has never napped consistently during the day, not even at day 1. He just turned 1 and occasionally he'll fall sleep in the car if we go somewhere, but usually he's up for 12+ hrs straight every single day.

It varies so much between children. My son stopped napping at 13 months (yes, 13 MONTHS) and my little girl still sometimes napped until she was 5. About 2/3 of the children in my class (I work with 3 year olds) nap, and about 1/2 the children in the 4 year old room nap, but being in a daycare environment, they're "scheduled" to nap, so the number of sleeperd are probably a little higher than if these children were at home.

Right when DD1 was turning 3, she stopped napping all together. DD2 is 2.5 and still naps almost every day which is something DD1 wasn't doing at this age, I'm hoping she continues for a while!

DSD's still nap every day for 2 hours at 5.5 and 2.5. DSS gets cranky on weekends if he doesn't nap and he's 7. He will fall asleep for nap within 5 min if you tell him its naptime and he'll sleep for a few hours.

Mine gave up his nap (when at home) at about 3ish.
I WISH he could give up his nap at daycare! Ugh.

We have better nighttime routines when he hasn't had a nap...and he's not one of those kids who gets cranky just because he hasn't had a nap.

Gets his energy level from his daddy....

DD started fighting her last (very short) nap around 12-13 months. I tried to have her keep it for months but gave up around 18-20 months.

DS started giving them up around 18 months, but during the summer he took a late nap whenever we went swimming in the afternoon and he could fall asleep in the car.
: Even a 15 minute nap would have him up past 11pm, sometimes into the early morning.

I still have DD take a "quiet time" every afternoon and she often still falls asleep. This system is working really well as a transition because she can nap if she needs it (which she often does) but on the days she doesn't she can read books or something else. It also makes her feel "big" like her friends who don't nap.

DD stopped napping when DS was born -- at 3ish. It took me forever to get her down and then she'd only sleep for 15 minutes.

DS is 20 months and I tried for an hour and a half today to get him to sleep, and he just wouldn't. Finally, I had to go to work, so I gave up. He gives up one or two naps a week.
It is very sad.
