My ds is developing a red area on the front of his chubby thighs where the diapers/covers rub. It seems like the prefolds and covers (mostly litewraps) that I use all hit him in the same spot
. I have one fleece cover that hits higher on the thigh, and I've been using it more but I don't really have any others that will give that area of his thighs a little break.

I need suggestions for dipes and covers that aren't so wide in the stride. Maybe a new folding technique for my prefolds? We usually do a simple "open in back, trifold in front, fold over excess" fold (does it have a more simple name? LOL) with a snappi, but I'm open to suggestions on how to make the CPF narrower in between his legs. Thanks, mamas!

Sugar Plum Baby is cut kind of narrow and high, also.

I think Heather had a good explanation of the bikini twist for prefolds at her website, with pictures and everything. Sorry, I don't have a link, though.

That's sad about his rash - maybe you could put a protective cushion there like a cotton pad or something until it gets better? I hope it clears up soon -

Thanks for the replies!

Ah, bikini cut cuddlebuns! Isn't there a Cuddlebuns cover too? Does that come in bikini cut also? And anywhere to purchase cuddlebuns other than eBay? PM me with spam if necessary.

OK, Sugar Plum Baby too... I'm guessing the website is sugarplumbaby.com? I'll check after I post this, correct me if that's not the right url.

Is the "bikini fold" and the "bikini twist" the same thing? I recall a binkini twist on Heather's site, I'll try that. I used it a few times in the past, but found that it didn't contain poop at all, and it looked uncomfortable on J's "package" lol. Maybe I was just doing it wrong?

OK, I tried the bikini twist and I think I've got it. He happened to poop in it, and we had poop ALL over the cover
but maybe that fold just isn't so great for poops? I also pulled out some of my infant CPFs and am trifolding those in a cover and that's working well too.

Now I need suggestions for slender stride covers! Oh darn, an excuse to go diaper shopping.
:LOL

I use the twist method on my dd with a fleece liner. I love it! I don't have a problem with containing poop unless I can't get to her very quickly to change. I add the fleece liner to keep her dry. It might be a helpful addition to you ds dipes to keep something soft against the rash and keep it dry. It did take me a day or two to get good at it. I snappi it closed. Hope it works.

I've used the bikini twist, but since I rarely use CPF's I guess I'm just not that good at it: the poops always leak!

BUT...if you want a really nice narrow stride diaper, can I throw in a mini-rave for El Bee Baby? Honestly, these are the trimmest dipes I've ever seen, and the stride is so narrow that it doesn't bulk up at all, but it does contain the messes (and we don't even have the sidewall option).

I have a bikini cut cuddlebun and I really like it. Connor has really chunky thighs and it fits him better than the regular CB. I think I'm going to sell the regular so I can get another bikini. I don't think that violates the no more diaper buying rule, does it?

Piglet, you can absolutely throw in a rave for El Bee Baby! I'll check them out right now.

cj'smommy, I think I'm going to do the same thing in order to get a few new dipes!

I tried the twist yet again, and I think I got it better this time. This will probably make no sense, but I folded both edges inward before I twisted one over, so there's a little pocket that is surrounded by diaper walls. He didn't poop though, so I have no idea if it really will work better. I'll have to see tomorrow.

Munchkin's Mom, thanks for the tip about the fleece liner.

His rash seems to be getting worse
. He's down for the night with some barrier cream on (which will stain his FB's but I don't care). I think we need to do some bare bum time tomorrow to give his poor little thighs a break!
