dh has has a TERRIBLE headache all day.He gets them pretty frequently.Today,we think it's from the heat..last year he had to go to the ER for heat exhaustion.He NEVER misses work because he's sick or anything but today he stayed home til noon and came back at 2 and has been in bed since.Any suggestions??<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">

My husband used to get a lot of headaches, like almost daily. Our old chiropractor helped with it, though it took multiple visits. I don't know of helpful stuff when in the middle of them, though if heat may be part, then maybe dehydration is also an issue?

Hubby used to get migraines until he started chiropractic.

I used to landscape so I know what heat headaches are like... I also did get frequent headaches as a kid. I know it was because I didn't drink enough water. If he is working outside (or inside) in the heat, it could very well be dehydration. I would take at least a gallon of water with me to work, as well as drinking something with minerals and honey like an herb tea. I like nettle. Also, tell him to wear sunglasses if it is from the sun or glare on an overcast day. Long cool showers are nice, as are a wet rag on the head while working.

yea,when he had heat exhaustion,he was doing landscaping..outside ALL day and they had brand new trucks but no A/C<br><br>
Now,he's a welder..has been doing it for years,so he's definitely in the heat
