This is the first time I ever been this constipated while pregnant.
I take cod liver oil everyday, but I need something more. What has worked for you?
TIA

Prunes have worked (and I think they are delicious too). I got some "trail mix" cookies from Sprouts that seemed to get things moving too. They had nuts and dried cranberries in them (and probably a lot of fiber). I basically rely on prunes, though I think dried apricots or other dried fruit might have the same effect if you don't like prunes.

Bowl of oatmeal every morning. 64 oz. of water a day. Exercise every day. Don't eat much meat, and don't overdo it on the dairy. At least that's what works for me, pregnant or not.

Thx! More dried fruit sounds yummy. I probably am not drinking as much water as I should. And, I have been craving dairy... even drinking milk which I never do. So, maybe I should cool it on that.

For a non-dietary method, try Epsom salt baths. Usually works within 12 hours.

Are you taking a prenatal vitamin? They have a lot of iron in them (and usually the cheap kind that constipates). Try adding a calcium with magnesium supplement at the opposite time of day as your prenatal, since calcium and iron cancel each other out. I take my prenatal in the morning and the calcium/magnesium before bed (also helps with leg cramps and restless legs). That and LOTS of water works for me.

I second that. I forgot to mention calcium-magnesium. I like liquid, as it seems to absorb the best. And it TOTALLY helps with the legs. I even take it now (18 mos pp).
