natural remedies for seasonal allergies

505 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Suprakid1982
I used to take Claritin for allegries, but since the birth of my son, we've been trying to live a more natural lifestyle. Does anyone have info or resources for seasonal allegries? I'm really wiped out and headachy because the pollen count is pretty high right now. Oh, I should also state that I'm breastfeeding a toddler, who has been diagnosed with seasonal allergies, but I haven't noticed any suffering. Thanks for any help

Hi, I suffer from seasonal allergies too, and there is a supplement called respir-all by Now products http://www.nutritiongeeks.com/respir...espir-all.html

Or something with the following:
Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid)
Magnesium
Vit C

and I have heard about doing a Vit C flush, I might try that this year, see the sodium ascorbate thread a while ago.

Also I have found that taking essential fats, flax and fish oils and drinking loads of water, keeping hydrated helps alot.

I also had a friend take some local bee pollen everyday for about 6 months prior to the season starting with good results. I have not tried that myself, but it's supposedly quite effective.

I would highly recommend a high dose of sodium ascorbate (vit c) until you reach bowel tolerance, and then cut back until comfortable. Do you get any selenium in your diet (naturally or through supplementation)? It's also important for proper immune function. Bee pollen is very good unless you have a history of bee allergies. If you can get some raw honey (not the pasteurized stuff in the stores), I would highly recommend that as well. Raw dairy too. Definitely check the Sodium Ascorbate thread (here or in vax ... can't remember) and the Nutrition/Immunology sticky at the top of the vax board.
