My 5 year old wants a pirate ship and landing doc by maxim, eventhough he already has a playschool pirate ship. I've explained that he could have 1 pirate ship and a whole new toy, but he wants 2 pirate ships. Which is discouraging, cause he doesn't really play with his playschool one.<br><br><br>
I would love ideas for 5 year old boys!!!

atoygarden.com also has lots of great stuff! Peter's Truck is a HUGE hit w/the boys around here. Also tree blocks, a child sized guitar/drums, or something sports related? Skis? Surfboard? Bike? I do think it makes sense to be looking for other stuff, since he has a pirate, but maybe he really likes that other one? Maybe he'd be willing to donate the ine he already has in exchange? There are lots of places you could donate it, and then he'd have the one he wants and you get to share the pirate love?

My ds had a plastic pirate ship but hardly played with it. My mom bought him the barbarossa wooden pirate ship and he plays with it quite often. Sometimes, all it takes it getting one that looks more like a 'real' ship. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"> I donated the plastic one.<br><br>
My ds also loves dress up clothes (both girls and boys stuff) and anything to do with building. He actually wants this architecture set that has acrylic panels to make the rooms, etc. It's supposed to be geared toward an older child but ds doesn't like most of the building stuff for his own age.<br><br>
He also loves activity stuff. Like Klutz type sets.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna check them all out. Good to know that a real looking pirate ship will had a different effect on your ds.<br><br>
My son likes girl dress up clothes as well as boys, too. I took his picture in a dress and he was quite mad at me. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

In fact, he'd probably want me to wait until he had the shoes and hat on to match before I took the pic. LOL.

I got this for my 5 yr. old nephew at SIL's suggestion. <a href="http://www.learningthruplay.com/html/51/i-dig-the-curse-of-pirate-island-excavation-by-action-products.html" target="_blank">http://www.learningthruplay.com/html...-products.html</a><br><br>
I think it's pretty cool, not super natural but creative and interesting. I don't think he knew exactly what it was when he opened it but once he opens the package I think he'll really enjoy it. *be warned it weights a TON and trying to carry that and three other boxes inside when 9 months pregnant is inadvisable*
