Mamas, do you have a naturopath you just love? I am hoping to find a good ND for my family. We had one we adored but unfortunately she moved out to Indianola and with the ferry rides etc. its just too much work.

My husband has had a major illness nearly quarterly in the last 2 years. Right now he's down with bad bronchitis. The MD told him if he didn't take the antibiotic and rest it could become pneumonia.

I really don't like this trend with him. In the last year he's had 3 major rounds of :puke stomach issues that lasted a week each, he's thrown his back out so bad he missed a week of work, and now this latest bronchitis thing. That's just too much too often. I am thinking we need an ND to take a look at what we could do to bolster his system.

I really want someone who can see the whole family. Right now my primary care doc is an ND but she's in downtown Seattle and it is just too much of a hassle to get there so I never go. I would prefer an ND who is good for men, women, and children and is located in West Seattle but if you have one in the greater Seattle area that you like I want that name too!

Thanks!!

We like Dr. Kim Kelly in Greenwood. Her number is 361-0346. Our whole family sees her. In addition to being an ND, she is also an RN and a midwife. I feel really comfortable with her knowledge and expertise. Our son age 3 adores her.
Good luck!

My whole family see Dr. Paris *******. Her office is in the Ravenna Neighborhood, off of NE 65th. She is in practice with Bobbi Lutack, another awesome ND. Their number is 729.0907. They both take many types of insurance and are really good with the whole family.

However, if you want one in West Seattle, you could try the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians website. You can search for an ND in your zipcode.

I have also seen a family practice ND Dr. Paul Dompe on Queen Anne. He's very gentle in spirit and great with DD.

Dr. Afia Menke
She is located on 1st and 135th almost into Shoreline off Aurora.
She is a wonderful ND and use to be a midwife (was mine but stopped her insurance 2 years ago)
She specializes in women and children but takes the whole family.
She also has all the herbs, and tinctures you need.
I have seen 4 other ND, in Seattle and Bellingham and never found one that compares to her care.

We have seen Afia, and really liked her, but her office practices are driving us insane. Her billing person doesn't seem to want to get her paid, and we are STILL trying to get them to bill for Eamon's one year visit (in May of last year), and they FINALLY did so we have the Explanation of Benefits so we can get our LAST YEAR's flex plan to pay her. Does she NOT want the $105? She has also never billed *us*.

So as long as you know her office people aren't the best at getting simple jobs done, and perhaps *expect* money issues to come up, she's good especially for kids.

(I do admire Afia for giving up her midwifery practice when things got too scary being an LM in Washington...better than practicing scared, like the "midwives" I hired and was nearly destroyed by)

Anyway, I'll likely still take DS in to her, but hubby feels like a giant in there and has an appointment this week with Patrick Donovan, who is highly recommended by another friend of ours. He's hoping he feels a bit more comfortable with him, than in Afia's girly place.
