My 10 month old son is IN our bed every night but I just can't bring myself to removing the co-sleeper from my bedside. It just makes me feel much safer having that incase he goes exploring so he won't fall off the bed. My husband and I are totally cramped in our bedroom with no space and we really need to get that big cosleeper out of there, we have a very deep mattress, where could I find a bedrail? It won't work to push the bed to the wall I would be against a 2nd story window or blocking the closet completely. Any ideas?

I have long and tall bedrails from One Step Ahead. My daughter crawls, rolls, and tries to walk in her sleep, so they keep her from falling out of bed in her sleep.

Some people dislike bedrails in general because if there's a gap between bedrail and mattress, a young baby could get stuck between them, and if they pull themselves to a stand using them, most kids could fall over the bedrails, which would be quite dangerous.

To minimize those risks, we taught dd to climb out of the end of the bed, so she doesn't try to climb over the bedrails. And we didn't put them up until she was about 7 months old, so she wasn't tiny and was less likely to get stuck, got snug fitting rails, and stuffed tightly rolled sheets in the small gaps. If you're really worried about a baby getting stuck between the bedrail and mattress and you have a big enough bed, you can also get bedrails that sit on top of the mattress rather than next to it, so there's no gap at all.

I have a Snugtuck pillow (www.snugtuckpillow.com), a bolster that sits on top of the mattress and acts like sort of a bedrail. I like it because it is soft and I like how it looks better than a bedrail, but it does take up a little bit of space on the bed. A similar, more expensive product that I also think looks cool is the "Humanity Family Bed"
