My awesome crunchy pedi is moving to Texas. I'm looking for-

* Homebirth friendly
* Extended breastfeeding friendly
* Delayed vax friendly
* Doesn't mind cloth diapers
* for my dh's sake, circ friendly, just in case this is a boy.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Try Pediatric Health Care. They are at 18 1/2 and Mound in Sterling Heights. 586-254-7593

They have their short falls (not incredibly informed when it comes to breastfeeding, but so few peds are period, I do my homework and know my stuff and we're good), but are more than willing to learn if you approach things calmly and with information. They have conversations about care, they don't just tell you how it will be. I appreciate their approach in general.

I did all of the above but circ, and they tolerate me just fine.
(and honestly, they handled the non circ better than most peds!)

I'm in Lake Orion/Clarkston, and I make the drive. They're worth it.

We were seeing Dr. Cheryl!! LOL I don't like Dr. Dave, he told me ds had the croup when I took him in for a runny nose, chest congestion w/o coughing. Dr. Wasvary is alright, but there is something about her. I had never been able to get into see Dr. O'shea. We loved Dr. Cheryl to pieces and if I could follow her, I would. I will probably stick with the practice, but Dr. Cheryl always went out of her to spend time with you while you were there for a checkup.

Dr O'Shea just started her own practice... she is no longer with that group & is currently the only Doc in her practice (though I think she is going to hire someone to join her b/c she has so many patients).

Pediatric Health care in Sterling Heights is where I take my kids and they are pretty good. The ped we saw the most left the practice and moved out of state. In my experience they are everything on your list:

* Homebirth friendly
* Extended breastfeeding friendly
* Delayed vax friendly
* Doesn't mind cloth diapers
* for my dh's sake, circ friendly, just in case this is a boy.

They ONLY time I have had a bad experience was after going there for 2 1/2 years when seeing Dr. Wagner last month and she chewed me out for not vaxing our dd on time. NEVER did that happen before or again with any of the other Peds! The rest have been great with everything. Even extended BF.
Good luck!

Dr. Lisa Langenburg (586) 228-2911

She is on Garfield in Clinton Twp. and is a family practice doctor. 80% of her practice is delivering babies and mama/baby care. I talked to the nurses at the hospital about her and they all said she is very into natural birth and does what she can to avoid epidurals. Also, from what I heard she breastfed her own kids for 2 years. I haven't seen her because she doesn't accept our insurance. There is also a Dr. Lawless in her practice that I heard has bad bedside manner so make sure you see Langenburg!

Gosh this makes the passage of time evident to me...but one of the first births I did was with Dr. Langenburg, and it was awesome! She really DOES believe in and support natural birth. *grin* The birth was at POH or North Oakland...I dont remember which, but it's nice to hear that she landed someplace else! She is a good doc to have around.

I see Dr Thibault at Silver Pine - they have 3 offices in the Clintonand Shelby Twp areas. I had a unsatisfactory visit with one of the female docs WRT vaxxing, but I was confident and she didn't pressure me after I asserted my decision. I didn't want to see her but needed a physical and Thibault was out of town. He has NEVER given me anything but an understanding attitude about all my practices. He knows that I've had two wonderful homebirths, he doesn't even ask about vaxxing anymore, and he loves the breastfeeding and cloth diapering.

I once saw Dr. Habicht for my own bloodwork, and he was pleasant. I have not brought my kids in to see him, but they were there with me for my own appointment and he was pleasant with them and never said anything about their being homeschooled
