This is actually for a good friend who has just fired her doc. She hasn't had any luck finding a midwife there yet. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

lilzmama, Have your friend to post her search at www.nchomebirth.com It is a new website & is great. Clients & midwives are connecting there. I used to attend some in that area when my daughter lived there, but she moved back to my area last year. However, I have had folks to come to w/in 2 hours of me to have there babies in various places. That is an option for her & certainly one that other folks have done, as well, especially in areas where they can't find a midwife.karen valcourt of BirthTender in the foothills of the NC Mtns.

I used to live in wilmington and while she didn't do homebirths my midwife was great. If she doesn't mind hospital tell her to checkout the midwives at Women's Health Specialties. I have inquired around here about the same type of birth but people just laugh so I think we might be going with home birth next time.
