Okay I am new to potty training. How do you do it? I want to teach my 2 year old daughter. She understands and tells me when she goes pee pee or poo poo. I always take her to the toilet with me and talk to her or read her a book about potty training. She will sit on the potty but not for too long or if she has to go she will get up. She prefers to stand. My friend tried i guess bribing her son with jelly beans and know he hears the word jelly beans and cries and runs off.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/confused.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Confused">: I don't know if my girl is even ready. How do you know? Like I said she knows what she is doing and when she needs to go. She just tells me after shes done. I have evn tried keeping her naked all day and taking her to the toilet every hour. Nothing. Any advice?

My dd was dry all day and night at 2 1/2 yrs. I thought she could have done it earlier, but I was wrong. I began trying around 18 months. She did use the potty some but it was too early for her to be consistent. I encouraged her more when she turned 2 but she still was not ready (though she still used it some). The way I remember it, when I gave up on the issue she, all of the sudden, said she was done with diapers--and she was. Looking back, I know that it had to be something she wanted to do for herself.
