Hi,
I have not posted in a while. I am 41 + 4 days preggo w/ #2. I am hoping for a VBAC and the 'date' has been set to have a C/S this Friday (12/5) if nothing happens on its own before hand.

DD#1- went into labor 12 days late, labored for 42 hrs, had pitocin for last 8 hrs, never got past 4 cm and had C/S after 42 hrs labor...so she was born 14 days late.

I am 1 cm now and had membranes stripped. I am getting over a weird flu like cold that I have had since Thanksgiving. I have had two nights of labor w/ no pattern and short contrax.

Do I keep to the FRIDAY C/S date or should I ask to go to Monday (which would be 42 + 2)?

I was a nervous wreck all weekend as I had low grade fever for couple days followed by a couple days of unusually low body temps- so of course I am worried about baby. All biophysical have looked great- including one today.

ADVICE and ENCOURAGEMENT needed!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Brenda

I would say you think you migh be in labor and can't make the appt. You can always reschedule for monday. Give your body some time, you obviously gestate later than others. Give yourself that time and talk to baby. Best wishes

I agree. Give it a couple more days if you can.

I had great success relaxing and visualizing myself "opening up" the night before my scheduled induction. By the time I got to the hospital, I was 5cm and contracting regularly ever 5 minutes.

You can definitely do this!!!

I would listen to your inner voice. If you're feeling safe and secure w/ postponing the c/s then DO IT! It would be awful to go ahead w/ the c/s on Friday when if you would have waited you would have started on your own on Sat., kwim? You just never know.

Personally, yes, I would feel safe postponing. Honestly, as long as the BPP were fine, I would postpone indefinitely (while keeping an eye on the situation). If the baby needs to come out, discuss foley catheter induction with your doctor, instead of skipping to the section. If you want to read about my foley induction, click on the vbac icon in my sig.

Good luck, Mama! Hoping for a great vbac for you!

As long as the baby looks ok I'd postpone until Monday. Have a long talk with your baby today about coming out. Take a bath, visualize your baby getting ready to come, etc. Maybe it will help - certainly can't hurt. Can they do a foley induction and maybe a very very gentle pitocin drip instead of going straight to a c/s? Hopefully you're already in labor and this post is irrelevant!!! Please remember to post an update after you've had your baby

I would wait as well. As long as things are looking good with the BPP, why would any dr. insist on a repeat csection?
I am somewhat in your boat as today I am 41+4. This will be VBAC #2 for me though at home. My midwife was discussing with me how VBAC after 42 weeks is outside the norm of care (but that no evidence suggests it to be more problematic...just one of those hospital "things") and she is putting her butt out there for me if I were to have to transfer for some reason. She's totally behind me waiting though and is willing to stick by me.
It is so stressful having a deadline. You should have a couple more days. If you and baby are safe, is there really a reason not to?

Just wanted to add a little support as well.. you can do this..

good friend of mine had c/s with her first after 40+ hours labor. she did not dialate past 3cm. she was 41+6 and doctor wanted to induce her at 42 weeks no if ands or butts about it.. .. she did not want the induction bc that is what caused the first c.s she believed..

anyways, long story short.. she was a finger tip diated as of 41 weeks and NO contrax.. day before the scheduled induction her fantastic, perfectly working body went into labor on its own. *Imagine that!
*

she had her first vaginal deliver and as acting doula I watched a very strong, determined momma push her baby into the world with no interventions...

You can do it!

It sounds like you are not worried about the baby's health, and the tests have been fine. A C-section is major surgery. If you feel like you are fighting off a bug, then logically elective major surgery would be an added stress. Your body is busy nourishing a baby and fighting off a bug.

Go with your gut feeling. (Pun intended!)

Good Point! you can always call them and tell them that you are sick and can't make it in on Friday, or if they don't give you any trouble about rescheduling, then use that excuse on monday if you still feel you need another day or two. Just a suggestion for a nonconfrontational approach, you don't need anymore stress right now.
