Ok, here it all is

-my 5 month old does not like the Buddha outfacing position in my Maya wrap and

-doesn't have enough trunk control for hip carry

-she LOVES facing out, with her legs dangling

-but I'm a plus size mama and I'm scared of the straps on ABC or MT or whatevers digging into me

-I don't have a lot of $$ to experiment with slings

Any suggestions, please??

I think a wrap sounds like it might work for you. She could be forward facing in the front cross carry. You can make your own super cheap (spoc). And when you spread the fabric out on your shoulders you elimante any pressure points.

If you are coming for coffee night, pm me. I'm sure I have something you could try.

I second the suggestion for a wrap. While MT carrier straps can be made long enough for a plus sized gal, they just aren't very flattering, even on a lot of smaller bodies. They seem to really show off my rolls (but I wear it anyway).

I have found that with a wider ring sling (maya is only 36" wide and many are 45" wide) that I can pull the fabric up in the back to really support the baby's trunk in the hip carry position. Not a tiny baby, but a wobbly 5 month old no problem.
