I have been reading "The Body Ecology Diet". http://bodyecology.com/aboutbed.php
It is about creating a healthy balance of bacteria to fight yeast infections. It is a VERY interesting read.
To greatly generalize: The author says that in order to get rid of Candidiasis one must first follow a strict diet that eliminates sugar and other yeast triggers. She then says after the body has weekend and eliminated the yeast you can begin to repopulate the body with probiotics found in kefir and fermented foods.
The book provides information on the ancient principle of expansive vs. contractive foods, balancing the pH of foods, following the rules of food combining, and other useful nutritional suggestions from a variety of sources.
I am finding that it would be very difficult to implement all of the suggestions from this book, however I have learned a great deal from it. It is teaching me to look at nutrition from a different perspective and I think I am making healthier decisions as a result. I would suggest reading it and cherry picking what works for you.
I have also recently heard that Kombucha eliminates yeast while replacing it with healthy bacteria, but I have not tried this method personally.
