Aloha! I'm running away from AK pollen & for some reason it's cheap to go to Honolulu. So I can get the 3 of us there for $1200. BUT I need to find somewhere affordable for a week. Ideally, I'd like to avoid a rental car but I can get one if that's better. I just want my kids to be on the beach w/o alder trees for a break.

It's going to be expensive, but doable. I'd get a car, especially if you don't want to be stuck in Waikiki the whole time. (traffic can be bad here, and though the bus system is good, it can take forever to get around). You could definitely find a timeshare in Waikiki. I would also check the North Shore, Haleiwa area.
