I'm going to try and sew some diapers for my thin 19-month-old who sometimes goes potty. Here's what I'm looking for:

-Something she can take off herself
-Pockets, because she only goes potty occasionally (still needs diaper absorbancy)
-Side snaps/hook & loop, so I can get messy dipes off easily

I'm already planning on buying the one-size PooPockets pattern so I can make a bunch of dipes out of fabric I already have. (We're praying for another babe soon, so I want size versatility!) Any comments on the PooPockets one size?

In terms of dipes for the current tot, I'm considering the following (comments please!):

--PooPockets Side-Snapping
--PooPockets Trainers
--Very Baby Side Snap
--Poquito Pants

I plan on turning the side-snaps into pocket AIOs, and the makers have told me that my daughter will be able to take them off like undies if I snap them loose enough.

Thanks for your comments! I'm lost!

I love the PooPockets sidesnap pattern. It's super easy and gloriously cute! I do muck about with it a little bit (I always add a full inner layer sadwiched in between the inside and outside--along with the soaker) I'm actually very pleased with it.

I would definitely go for the Very Baby patterns. Jess has great support that should be able to show you how to modify the diapers to be pockets or make them more like undies. If she doesn't have it on her website, she'll be able to help you if you email her.

Thanks, mamas. Oshunmama, I like how the side snap PooPockets have elastic in casings - I prefer it this way. If I get this pattern, I hope to make some little all-in-ones with pockets or snap-in soakers for the next babe.

Tana, you're right - Jess is very helpful. She's already answered a bunch of my questions, and I haven't bought the pattern yet. =)

Anyone tried the PooPockets Trainers pattern?

I really like this pattern. I've only made a couple so far, & they work very well (dd is about 16#s). The way you can fold & stitch the soaker is very slick. They stay on well under a snug cover with no pins or snappis. I also thought that the instructions were good & they were easy to sew.

Best wishes!
