We just found a milk allergy in DS. I need to make cupcakes for him to take to school as substitutes for school parties. He likes chocolate. Recipe suggestions or tips for successful substitutions, please.

Thank you!

Try Googling "vegan chocolate cake" -- there's a popular one that uses vinegar and baking soda, and you'll find lots of versions of it out there.

Take any recipe and substitute prepackaged soy, rice, almond, etc. milk for the dairy milk called for in the recipe.

There's a cookbook called "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World" that has gotten lots of positive reviews.

But I bet that plain soy milk would work in place of regular milk in any standard recipe. Soy milk + vinegar could replace buttermilk.
