So, I've learned to knit. I can cast on, knit, purl, and bind off... I made two of the hats that I posted in my FO thread, but now I don't know what to do next!!!

I would really like to (eventually) make longies and sweaters for my girls. I also want to learn to knit in the round.

Here's what I currently have - One skein of Wool Ease Thick and Quick, two skeins of Lion Wool, and a pair of size 15 needles and size 11's.

What can I make with what I have? What should I buy next?

Someone give me a knitting assignment please!!!:

With what you have...you can make a scarf, or a teensy blanket, or a hat. I think you would need smaller needles for the Lion Wool, depending on what you wanted to make. Or you could knit something and felt/full it -- I hear that's good for fulling, and you've got big enough needles.

But, I say, why not dig right in and try longies or a sweater? There's no time like the present. If you bear in mind that your first attempts might be a little lumpy, there's no better way to teach yourself to do something than to just do it, kwim?

We'll help. Find an easy pattern (you could start with a soaker as opposed to longies) and get the wool/needles you'll need for that. Then follow the instructions. If you get stuck, come post here and we'll walk you through it. There are lots of other places you can get help knitting online too -- www.knittinghelp.com has lots of great videos and a forum, and www.woolywonder.com is a site dedicated to soaker and longies knitting, with patterns, support, a forum, and even lessons. It's run by an MDC mama.
