I have been giving my poor little girl an antobiotic due to a sever ear ear infection, which in turn has casued major diherea. Her poor little bottom is raw! Ican have done everything that I can think of and tried every ontiment that you can buy and nothing is workin!. The doc perscribed one and that doesen' t even work. The poor thing can't even walk becasue it hurts so bad.I have even allowed her to go all day without a diaper and it has seemed to do no good. I'm at my witts end. Does any one know of something that can help her? Thank you for reading this and I will be waiting on pins and needles for some suggestions.

Oh, poor baby! Could this be thrush - my daughter had a terrible rash like that after being on antibiotics. I had to use a cream designed specifically for thrush to clear it up.
If it's a regular diaper rash, maybe you could try a chamomile cream, that always worked for me. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I hope someone else comes up with something.

Have you tried breastmilk? My boys sometimes get horrid rashes and a little bit of breastmilk applied at every diaper change clears them right up. Of course it could be a yeast rash in which case you may need some nystatin. Ds2 just had a yeasty diaper rash (from antibiotics I was on for mastitis several months back) and we tried gentian violet first, but I couldn't handle the mess so I gave in and used the nystatin. In about a week it was gone, but it didn't hurt him at all, so I don't know that it would be the same thing. Time spent soaking in warm water (no soap or bubbles or anything) and airing out will help too. Hope your little one feels better soon.

Mix equal parts of maalox(sp) and cold cream. I used to work at a day care and we always used this on our worse cases of diaper rash and they were usually almost completly healed by the next day. Good luck.

I was gonna suggest BM too, however, it does sound like yeast. Are there lots of little red dots, or is it just bright red? My son's yeast would get so bad it would bleed. We had to combine diflucan by mouth and nystatin on the bottom. If it is yeast, make sure to steer clear of any powders with cornstarch in it!

G had one terrible diaper rash and the dr thought it was yeast so he told us to use an anti-fungal cream (what is used for athlete's foot). It might help. Also, if you can get the diarreah (sp!) cleared up, that might help the rash (and make it less scary to leave the little one's bum bare!).

Well her rash is only along her anus and a little on her legs up near her anus. I don't believ that its a yeast infection becasue there are nbo splotches or an actually rash. Her bottom is just solid red. How would you know if its thrush? I've been taking jarro to prevent thrush so is there still a chance that it could be that?

No its not chapped like dry lips. I feel so awful for her and some what responsible. I wish that I hadn't have given her the antibiotic and unfortuntly we still have 8 more days to go! This is her first time taking an antibiotic and if I can help it it'll be her last.

Lanolin - my dd's both have had severely sensitive skin. My 2 yo's is so sensitive that her skin literally wipes away when I wipe (and not hard either) after a watery poop. She'll be red all over with raw & bleeding patches on her and she'll scream bloody murder about it. The ONLY thing that has ever worked for us (and works fast too) is lanolin - just like the stuff you use for lanolizing wool diaper covers or to soothe sore nipples (Lansinoh or Medela's kind). I lay it on thick & with every diaper change. I always pat her bum dry before applying with a soft cloth (like a prefold) so it goes on dry skin. Good luck!

The only thing that worked for our 2 month + diaper rash was to AIR IT OUT, as much as possible. We would put ds bottom up in the sun for no more than 3-5 minutes and that cleared it up pronto. The other option, which helped us, too, is to use a hairdryer on the bottom after each diaper change.

No creames worked for us. Just the above treatment. (it was thrush tho) But either way, airing it out is often the best solution for any diaper rash. I let him roll around on a waterproof pad and also let him nap on the tummy and then opened up the diaper. that worked great.

Clotrimazole 1% cream It is a prescription and that is the generic name and I can't remember the brand name but my babies get diaper rash so easily especially on anitbiotics and their skin is so sensitive that when you would wipe with a wipee their skin would just peel off. It was HORRIBLE. I would cry more then the baby would. I keep this tube of cream on hand at all times and it is a lifesaver...or buttsaver
!! Another thing that helps is giving them a luke warm bath with LOTS of baking soda in it. Just let them sit in it for as long as they want to. GOOD LUCK!!

Clotrimazole 1% cream you can get over the counter.....It's the active ingredient in some athelete's foot medicines.... and vag yeast creams. Same thing. My DD just had a nasty rash and this is what I used...I'm a PNP and it's clearing up. Use with every diaper change at first... Good luck!

Seriously, try the lanolin. I'm telling you, I've never known anyone to have kids w/worse diaper rash than mine and that stuff is the only thing that has been able to heal (and quickly) open sores. Please, for your baby's sake, try it - you won't be sorry!!!
