Help! My friend's baby is due now. She has been historically very anti-BF. I spoke with her last night - and she confided that she is now planning on pumping exclusively. I took this as a major victory - as the alternative was no BF at all!

However - she is already frustrated because she went to a BF Class and received no support for this plan. I understand why a lactation consultant or LLL leader would try to convince her to BF. But I know this girl, if she doesn't get some support for her plan -- her way of doing it -- she will shut down all together and abandon the BF totally.

So - I am putting out a plea on this board to reply with links, info, etc. - for a new mom planning to pump exclusively. I am going to see her tonight - and want to bring her helpful info.

My desire is that if she gets in a pumping routine - she may eventually want to try BF the baby too! If not - at least the baby is getting BM.

I exclusively pumped the first month before my son latched on. My LC told me about a Yahoo Group named pumpmoms. It was very helpful. Some of the women are exclusive pumps and some are part-time pumpers. I would highly recommend it.
